  • Highlighting Learning & Financial Literacy

    Funded Oct 18, 2024

My students have immensely benefited from highlighters and colorful paper to create graphic organizers of complex AP Macroeconomics topics. In our increasingly digital and computer-based world, writing equations and content by hand activates a different part of the student's brain and helps them remember the details. The physical act of writing and graphing makes the abstract content more tangible.

There has been a remarkable improve in student retention since we started highlighting and working with the colorful paper to great visuals and graphic organizers.

The students even created a Macroeconomics wall to display the formulas for easy visual reference.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Daniel

  • Hands on Math!

    Funded Sep 6, 2024

Thank so much for your very generous support of my classroom. My high school AP Statistics scholars very much enjoyed learning complex topics with the aid of a sweet treat!

The starburst lab to model linear regression comparing hand size and amount of starburst held was especially fun and competitive. Students enjoyed a sugar boost, too!

The M&Ms and Skittles probability activity helped my students best understand conditional probability. By physically touching, counting and eating the candies the theory of conditional probability came alive.”

    Mrs. Daniel

  • NSpire: Financial Planning & Economic Sense

    Funded Oct 11, 2023

Thank you so much for your generous support of my classroom. Students have been thrilled to explore economics models using their new high-tech, color TI NSpire graphing calculators. These devices allow students to visualize economic trends and manipulate data to determine what changes can be expected as economic data changes.

In the current economic environment, it is important that students can understand the impact of unemployment data, Consumer Price Index (CPI) and Gross Domestic Product (GDP) data has on the wider economy.

Additionally, it is important that students understand how the changes in economic data impact interest rates. Interest rates drive student loan rates as well as car loan rates- two things high school seniors pay attention, too!

Once again, thank you so much!!!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Daniel

  • Power Up AP Statistics

    Funded Nov 12, 2021

My students have benefited greatly from the ability to safely and efficiently charge their new TI-NSpire graphing calculators. These calculators are required for daily use in class, so it is essential that these battery-powered devices are fully charged and operational.

Additionally, my students have enjoyed learning to use the new TI-NSpire calculators as we are modeling statistical distributions and calculating probabilities. The dynamic nature of these devices have brought a new dimension to the course.”

  • Calculating Statistics and Economics

    Funded Sep 28, 2021

My students have benefited greatly from the ability to work on printed handouts to solve AP Economics and Statistics questions. Since our AP exam is paper-based it is important that students are able to "practice how they will play"....meaning complete classwork assignments that are similar in nature to the end of year AP exam.

Additionally, my students have enjoyed learning to use the new TI-NSpire calculators as we are modeling statistical distributions and calculating probabilities. The dynamic nature of these devices have brought a new dimension to the course.”

  • Budgets, the Fed and Me!

    Funded Nov 22, 2021

Thank you so much for supporting my classroom and providing my students with hands-on learning resources. These hands-on learning resources provide social interaction among students as well as promote corporative group work.

We recently did a "Stand and Sort" activity that allowed students to discuss and debate before sorting the functions and goals of the Federal Reserve Banks compared with Congress's fiscal policy tools.

Both monetary and fiscal policies are frequent in the news these days, so it is essential that my high school seniors understand the objectives and aims of these policies.”

  • NSpire Statistics!

    Funded Oct 12, 2021

Thank you so much for the brand new TI Nspire calculators. My students are enjoying exploring all the new features and learning how to use these app based (iPhone like) calculators. The students most enjoy watching the dynamic data visualizations.

In a recent lesson, we were calculating the correlation of two variables and exploring the idea that correlation does not change if the x and y variables are switched. Using the TI-Nspire, students were able to easily see the graphical flip and realize that, while the graph flipped (reflected over x = y), the correlation value did not change.”

  • "NSpire" Math 2016

    Funded Oct 21, 2016

Thank you very much for finding our project of state-of-the art calculators for AP Statistics. My students were thrilled to start using these tools in class and learning how to calculate various statistical concepts like p-values and t-tests much faster and much more accurately.

The students have remarked that these new calculators are like iPhone for math! The screens are in color and have a trackpad mouse.

One student had a very old calculator that has since been replaced by the Ti-Nspire; he has been amazed at how much faster he is able to complete his tests and assignments with the newer technology. I know he will now be able to pass the AP exam with the improved competitive edge.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Daniel

My students represent a diverse range of backgrounds and share a common goal to maximize their high school experience. Some of my students are English-Language Learners and some are the first in their family to take an Advanced Placement(AP) course. The majority of my students are from minority backgrounds that are not typically well-represented in AP mathematics courses.
