Water We Doing??
Funded Dec 14, 2011Thank you so much for your donation to my classroom. We did a unit on water and the water testing kits allowed the students to find out if there were any strange chemicals in any of their water samples! Thankfully we did not find any suspicious samples of water so we can feel safe about drinking NYC tap water.
I am especially thankful for your continued support of my classroom, especially in times when it is more difficult to plan interesting activities due to a lack of funds in schools. It feels really reassuring to know that there are family and friends who are willing to help my students out!”

One Netbook Per Student
Funded Dec 6, 2011Thank you so much for your donation to my classroom. We have been using the netbooks almost weekly as a way to collect projects in google docs. The students are developing a portfolio of all of their science work in google docs, and it should be quite impressive by the time they are seniors, thanks to you!

Smart Board needs Smart(er) computer!
Funded Dec 1, 2011Thank you so much for your donation to my classroom. We have enjoyed using a new computer that can unlock the power of the Smartboard in our classroom. We have been able to develop a more interactive classroom and the students can manipulate the Smartboard to facilitate their learning.

One Netbook Per Child
Funded Nov 18, 2010Thank you so much for
your donation to my classroom! We are excited to make progress towards
having a class set of netbooks, and your donation has helped us almost reach
that goal. So far we have been able to use the netbooks we have to enhance
many of the topics that we are learning.
Most recently we were
able to use the netbooks as a resource to learn more about the disaster in
Japan and the effects of nuclear radiation. Students were able to do
research in pairs and at the end of the week they had a debate over whether or
not we should rely on nuclear power as a source of energy, and they were really
excited about it.
Thank you again for
supporting my classroom.”

Solar Power!
Funded Mar 26, 2010Thank you so much for your generous donation to my classroom. We have been studying alternative energy sources in my class for the past few weeks. I just broke the news to them yesterday that they will be building their own solar powered cars and having a solar car race and they were very excited.
I am almost as excited as they are to have such a fun and important project to say farewell to the school year! I hope that they can further appreciate the power of clean energy through this project and sustain that appreciation into their years beyond high school when alternative energy sources will be increasingly important.”

Be Our Sun and Power Our Cars!
Funded Mar 2, 2010Thank you so much for your donation to my classroom. The materials for building a solar panel and video about solar energy have been extremely useful in helping my students better understand solar energy and the need for clean energy sources.
As they learn more about solar power they are getting excited to build their own solar powered cars and have a solar race. Giving them hands - on activities about alternative energy sources has helped them appreciate how interesting energy can be!”

Funded Feb 9, 2010I just wanted to thank you for your donation to my classroom. I have been using the projector every day in my classroom. Even in the week since we have started using it, there have been important changes in what we are able to accomplish. I have been able to talk about a molecule and then a moment later I can show them a picture of that molecule. In the coming weeks I look forward to showing my students videos and more images of the topics we are talking about.
Thanks to you, I am able to challenge my students even more, while supporting them with visuals that make it easy for them to understand difficult concepts.
Donations are always appreciated, and my students and I will show our gratitude by using it as often as possible.”

Ms. Stanley
