My 34 kindergarten students are a loving and enthusiastic group of five and six year olds from a low-income area in Pennsylvania. We are a public school and all of my students receive free or reduced price lunch. More than half of my students come from Spanish speaking homes. This is the first school experience for most of my students and they are so excited to come to school each day. They have a love of learning and are grateful for every lesson and activity that we do. They try so hard to meet the high standards required by our state, but unfortunately many of our students do not have appropriate support at home. Although our school does try to provide us with the things that we need, kindergarten is not always a high priority.
