It's a Small World After All
Funded Apr 6, 2011Your kindness through this project made it possible for 43 students to become scientists! It took the teaching power away from me and the textbook and placed it in the hands of the kids! When kids are active participants in their own learning, the connections that they make stay with them forever.
Budget cuts have taken their tolls on funding available for teachers in the classroom. My allotted $50 at the beginning of the year has to buy Kleenex, pencil sharpeners, paper, and pencils. There is never any money available for special projects. Thanks to Donors Choose and the generous spirit of people like you... my kids have seen that it REALLY is "A Small World After All!" ”
With gratitude,
Mrs. Frost
Excuse Me... Do You Have the Time?
Funded Dec 15, 2010A teacher's brightest moments are helping students "get it." There is nothing quite like knowing you were instrumental in true learning for a student. Budget cuts in school districts across the country have limited teachers' ability to buy extra supplies for their classrooms. Donors Choose has provided the vehicle to help teachers, but it is donors like all of you who are providing the gas for that vehicle.
This project was created in the hopes of increasing my students' understanding of time. Their test scores showed they had great weakness in telling time and calculating elapsed time. Since we received our supplies in January, I am happy to report that their ability levels and level of confidence have both increased. I'm no longer being bombarded with "Mrs. D, what time is it?" ”
With gratitude,
Mrs. Frost
Making it All Add Up
Funded Oct 1, 2010My class is so grateful for all of the math supplies that came a few weeks back. What a blessing to want math supplies desperately and have them come from such an unexpected source. Since our package came in the mail the students have voiced that learning their math facts has become fun.
The new math manipulatives came just in time. We have used them during math class, during intervention time, and the students even ask to play with them during recess.
I am so thankful for the Limeades for Learning program. I know that I am just one of hundreds of teachers who are appreciative. These supplies make a very real difference in my classroom and with my students.”
With gratitude,
Mrs. Frost
Our Minds On Our Money...and Money On Our Minds
Funded Sep 1, 2010The materials I received from Donors Choose as a result of your generosity have impacted my classroom greatly. As a whole they are performing better with counting money and calculating change. The students have become more comfortable and confident in their abilities.
The materials not only helped with math instruction but also taught a valuable lesson on kindness and how great it feels to be at the receiving end of generosity. The kids were so amazed that a stranger would be willing to help them out and cared so much about their well being.
Thank you again for your very generous donation and choosing us. We are so thankful and appreciative. ”
With gratitude,
Mrs. Frost
