My students need a rug to foster their love of reading, as well as create a welcoming and inviting space to learn. Above all else, my students are creative. They are creative minds that strive to think outside the box , and to be the best versions of themselves. They not only encourage one another, but they encourage me, as well. They are thinkers, problem solvers, dreamers, and innovators. My goal this year, and years to come is to foster a love of reading and literature by providing a safe and welcoming classroom. I would love to provide my students with a warm inviting reading area including a carpet, so they can be comfortable and feel at home while improving their reading skills. I am requesting a rug for my students to be able to read independently. Having a rug, will also help during whole group instruction when students need to be closer for me to model instruction, or for hands on activities. Students are more likely to enjoy reading if they have options and choices in what they're reading, how they're reading, and where they're reading. In order to encourage this love of reading , I want the choice for my students to read in a space that is comfortable for them. By having a rug, I am furthering those choices for my students and allowing them to be independent thinkers and leaders. My goal is to continue to add to my reading area, to invite more and more readers to the rug!
