The students in my library have become accustomed to using technology as a means of accessing information and learning new skills. However, as with any technology, it will eventually start to fail. This is the current problem my students are facing. Right now, I have five Chromebooks making wonderful paperweights because the batteries will no longer hold a charge. In addition, as my school has acquired new technology, not everything is immediately compatible. For example, the LCD projector in the library only has a VGA connection, while the Chromebooks need a HDMI connection.
Investing in our current technology will provide students with the devices they need to empower their learning.
Making all of our Chromebooks functional will provide library students with a one-to-one device ratio which will allow for individualized learning experiences. Learning can then be given further purpose by allowing students to easily share and display their work with the LCD projector.
