  • Pop, Sizzle, Boom! Help Foster STEM in Our Classroom

    Funded Nov 1, 2021

It is with sincere gratitude that I thank you on behalf of myself and my students for your donations to my project. We have enjoyed having materials that allow STEM to come alive in our classroom.

As we explore rocks and minerals, heat, fossils, fractions, graphing and more, the materials you have sponsored have contributed to my students being able to learn these topics in a creative and hands-on manner.

As we engage in several Project Based Learning Units, thanks to donors like you we are nearer to having all of the necessary tools and materials to make these units a success! My students are excited, I am excited, thank you!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Stanford

  • Extra, Extra, Read All About It!

    Funded Oct 10, 2016

Thank you so much for contributing to my classroom library. In grades Kindergarten through Second Grade, students are learning to read, so fostering a love for reading is very important. Once students enter Third Grade, they begin reading to learn. As a lower grades teacher it is important to provide many opportunities for students to engage with text as well as to create a print rich environment. Your contributions have allowed for my students to have many resources to become great readers. Not only did the resources allow for my students to engage with text through reading, but also allowed for my students to engage with text through writing.

Reading takes place daily in my classroom. Students read to themselves, read to a friend, or listen to books. The resources that we have been provided helps to foster a love for reading in our classroom community. Seeing students actively engaging with text is heartwarming!

All of my students are enjoying the new books! It is especially exciting to see beginning readers excited about reading time. Having books accessible that students can listen and follow along with, has really boosted the morale during reading time in my class.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Stanford

  • Extra, Extra, Read All About It!

    Funded Aug 22, 2014

I am very grateful for your generous donations in helping fund my project, "Extra, Extra Read All About It"! This is such a great way to start off the school year. With the new school year kicking off and assessments being done, the leveled library materials and literacy materials will assist me in giving my students the differentiated instruction they deserve. The materials will be an asset to our reading development and journey to becoming great readers!!!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Stanford

  • Hickory Dickory Dock, Our Supplies Are Out of Stock

    Funded Oct 18, 2013

My students are really thrilled to have their new materials. When we received them, they were really happy. They were smiling, jumping up and down, giving each other hugs and high fives.

We are using our resources everyday! We use them during small group instruction, large group instruction, outside, and my students use them at their leisure during their unstructed activity time.

This project really boosted my teaching and my students' learning by offering them several ways to be engaged in activities. Being English Learners, some of my students are still in the silent period and others just have a longer response time. The dry erase boards and its accesories in particular, allow for my students time to think about and write down their answers instead of having the pressure to raise their hands or be called on, which contributes to lowering their affective filter.

I can also see a change in our classroom community. My students have always been a close knit group, but now that they do not have to share as much anymore, I can see that are more focused on helping one another get the task done. Within this month, I can also see amazing growth in their langauge that I contribute to the resources that we have allowing us more oppurtunities to be engaged in different ways.

In this season of gratitude and giving thanks, my students and I sincerely thank you for your contibutions to our classroom. We are forever grateful!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Stanford

My students are eager learners who are experiencing formal education for the first time. For some of them, not only are they transitioning to school, they are also adjusting to their new life in a new country. Despite some of the challenges they face, my children come to school everyday ready to learn. Our school is a Title I school in Georgia with a large refugee population which includes the majority of my students.
