The second grade students in my classroom attend a small rural community school in NC of 322 students. Our school is in a very low wealth area, and 100% of the students receive free meals. Most of the students in my class have never traveled outside of the community and have no prior knowledge of other communities or cultures. The students in my class are eager to learn and are accepting of others. They need materials that will encourage them to read daily. These materials will also help facilitate language and literacy development to ensure future school success.
