My 5th grade students are in the dual language program, and I am their Reading Language Arts teacher. Some of them are "fake readers," so I believe that a novel study will empower them to read more deeply and have the experience of reading a novel to completion. Those who already have a love of reading will be captivated by these award winning stories. I have tried to include different styles of fiction to appeal to as many of my students as possible. This project will also enable students whose first language is English to boost their Spanish language acquisition. All of our discussion questions will be in Spanish, and the expectation will be that they respond in Spanish.
