Color Our World
Funded Mar 27, 2024It was so wonderful starting off the school year with all of the necessary writing supplies instead of having to rely on parents to send in supplies. I was able to label the composition books and have them ready to go before school started! My caddies were filled with markers, crayons, and colored pencils before Meet the Teacher. I was able to put cover labels on my class Poetry Folders and Math Warm Up Folders and put all of the inside pages inside the Math Warm Up Folders, too! It took away a lot of the stress of trying to get them prepared and hoping we would receive enough of the supplies I needed once school started.”

Funded Jan 4, 2024It was time to replace our class chairs pockets with new ones. With your help, I was able to meet this goal! The new black chair pockets with colored borders really help students keep their items organized while making the class look neat and color coded. Everyone who walks into my room comment on them! It is so helpful having the class set of pencil pouches. I was able to number each with the students' class number using my Cricut machine. This way if a student misplaces their pouch, the other students can help locate its owner. Thank you so much for your help and support!”

Printing Power!
Funded Mar 15, 2024Thank you so much for your help and support with my project "Printing Power!" I am so thankful to have been able to purchase a new color printer to replace our old, broken one. By adding some color, it makes games eye catching and desired to play! I've been able to create name plates for students' desks, individual pages for students with their usernames, passwords, and QR codes to access district websites and other items. Having a printer in my classroom makes it much easier to print out needed items especially when I am not able to print in our workroom. Being able to purchase card stock and colored paper had allowed me to print items that will last longer (such as games) and items to share with family members, too.”

Say Cheese!
Funded Jan 23, 2024Thank you so much for your help and support! Adding a personal photo printer to our classroom has been so helpful and time efficient. Each week after a student presents as the "Scientist of the Week" I can print out a photo of them doing the experiment to add to the "Experiment Log" for the next student to view so they don't repeat the same experiment. In the past, I had to scramble to go to a local store to print it out and have to wait to send the kit home with the next student or just send it without a photo (I would add it the next week).
Each month I also take a class photo to add to a display outside our door.
I can't wait to begin the school year with the printer so that I can print mini photos of them on from Meet the Teacher or on the first day of school to add to our classroom display.
Thank you again! I really appreciate it!”

Lunar New Year 2024: Year of the Dragon
Funded Dec 4, 2023It was amazing having the opportunity to purchase these items to bring our Lunar New Year celebration to life in my first grade classroom. Students were so excited to hear the different stories read aloud and receive their own red money envelopes filled with chocolate coins. They loved creating the rainbow Dragon Scratch Art magnets to go along with the Year of the Dragon. Together, they scratched off their fortune with their 5th grade buddies. The were excited to each receive their own Year of the Dragon pencil and the cutest fortune cookie eraser. Thank you so much for helping make this possible!”

Funded Nov 28, 2023My students felt so loved and appreciated the gift bags I created for them. One student said "I have always wanted a scarf!" They were so excited when they saw their names on the gloves, too! Many didn't want to take them off after they tried them on. I heard back from several family members thanking me for taking the time to make their child the gifts, and how much they loved them, too. I know they will stay warm and cozy this holiday season. Thank you so much for your support allowing me to create personalized hats, gloves and scarves for each child.”

Funded Sep 5, 2023We love having a Cricut machine in our own classroom! I helped all of the first grade teachers print out their names for the back of their class shirts. Then, the students were able to make their own personalized "P.E. Pockets" to keep track of the coupons the earn in P.E. They will get to keep these pencil pouches at the end of the year to use however they choose. We have labeled their class water bottles, too. I am hoping our next project includes them designing their own stickers to color and making gifts for others. The possibilities are endless! Thank you so much!”

More Odds and Ends for Back to School!
Funded Jul 24, 2023With your help, I was able to purchase additional chair pockets for my classroom. Since over the summer one of my tables was removed, I had to scramble to have enough of the same colored chair pockets to fit all of my students around 4 tables instead of 5. Luckily, my generous donors helped me with this!
I also realized we had a small supply of glue sticks and not enough scissors for the start of the school year. Now, we do! The Kleenex tissues and Clorox wipes are helping us stay healthy and clean and the students are able to take some responsibility for helping us stay that way by cleaning up their areas with the wipes. I absolutely love the magnetic star border! It helps the students focus on the front board. Thank you again for all of your help and support! We appreciate you!”

U.S.A. Classroom Postcard Exchange
Funded Jul 17, 2023My students and I are loving this opportunity to brainstorm and share what makes our city and state special, as well as learn all about different states, too! First the students brainstormed what makes where we live special. They wrote down facts and opinions and then I typed them into a paragraph to put on the back of our postcards. Next, students helped me address and put panther paw stickers (our school mascot) on the postcards. We took them to the office and put them in the mail box. Now, each week, we receive several postcards. I read them aloud and then we find the state on our map. We put up the postcard with one of the clothespins. This way, people can take them down and read the back, too! We get so excited when we receive a new one in the mail! We should receive all of them by the end of December. My students are loving learning new facts and making connection from our state to other states, too. Students throughout the school have the ability to check out the postcards in the hallway, too! Thank you so much for this opportunity!”

Creating Class Shirts
Funded Aug 3, 2023We were so thankful to be able to purchase these shirts for our first grade students. We asked for donations from family members, which covered a the remainder of the shirts needed (110 shirts total), but with this Donors Choose proposal, we were able to purchase enough shirts for all five classes. Everyone loved our new design for our grade level shirts! The quality of the shirts from Custom Ink are amazing, too. They worked with me to make sure everything was designed well, that we received an educator discount, and that they were delivered promptly. Our next step after receiving them was tie dying them, which was a huge hit, too! Thank you so much for your support!”
