  • Every Child Deserves Authentic Books!

    Funded Mar 27, 2018

Thank you for funding my project. By doing so, I have authentic texts in my kids' hands. These books have positively impacted my classroom in two ways. The first way is that kids are actually excited to read independently during literacy stations. They can't wait to dive into the books and talk about the text with their friends. Additionally, it hooked scholars into books because they want to read the whole series! The second way it has impacted my classroom is that I have authentic texts for scholars to use during guided reading. Prior, I was mainly using printed out paper texts. Now, students get to hold real books and I have the opportunity to support them in small group instruction using a book they are excited to read. All of my students can now say that they enjoy reading!”

    Ms. Valverde

  • Hook 'em Into Reading!

    Funded Apr 8, 2016

    Dear Donors,

Thank you so much for your generous book donations. For the first time, there are a group of students, specifically boys, that are literally begging me to give them the books to read. The students are hooked! For many of these students they didn't call themselves readers prior. However, these series has created a new identity for them in which they call themselves readers!

These series has also made my independent reading time so much more enjoyable! My school has a guided reading power hour in which students independently read until their rotation comes up to receive small group from their teacher. Prior to these books, I was interrupted constantly by students who were talking instead of reading. Now, all of my students can't wait for this power hour so they can have time to read their new favorite series.

Your donation has transformed my guided reading power hour into an environment of readers!”

  • Mastering Standards A Few Manipulatives At A Time!

    Funded Feb 17, 2015

Thank you for your contribution to my classroom! With this donation, my students were able to practice standards they were struggling with and gain the confidence for their STAAR test. My 3rd and 4th graders had the opportunity to touch and hold coins in their hands so they can practice counting money. They became familiar with what each coin looks like so they can identify it on a test. My 3rd graders were able to use the number line resource to help them create number lines for identifying equivalent fractions and counting on number lines. My 5th graders were able to understand the concept behind multiplication and division of fractions with the help of the fraction multipliers. Thanks to the materials, my students are performing better on the related TEKS!”

  • Hands on Manipulatives for Math!

    Funded Aug 22, 2014

My students LOVE the materials that this project bought. The students are excited to learn math when they get to touch the math they are learning. Teaching place value is easier because students can see and touch what each place value represents. Students mastered the decomposing and composing of numbers since they had place value cards to decompose a number and blocks to represent numbers in multiple ways.

These resources have transformed my classroom and my teaching style. Every lesson begins with a concrete, tactile portion. Students use protractors to create different angles, or use cards to sort through even and odd numbers, or use fraction tiles to compare fractions and then multiply or divide numbers! These materials allow the processes of math to take place to go from hands-on, to picture models, to abstract.

Thank you for your generosity and making math a subject that all students can learn and enjoy.”

  • Number Sense Matters!

    Funded Aug 23, 2014

Thank you for donating to my project! The materials have truly transformed my classroom. For one thing, I have enough personal white boards so that each student can have their to show their work. It is amazing what a white board can do to motivate students! It transforms a child's attitude towards work because they don't mind working if they get to use a white board. The manipulatives have also been so helpful. My students are the lowest math students in their grade level. In order to even begin understanding math concepts, they need to feel and touch and move around the concrete that represents the mathematical concepts. The manipulatives make it so my students can do just that! I am seeing leaps and bounds of improvement thanks to the resources your helped purchased. Thank you for helping my students succeed!”

  • Meeting All My Students' Needs!

    Funded Apr 23, 2013

Thank you so much for helping to fund my project!

One of the most time consuming things a teacher has to do is create a curriculum. I have to create the guided notes, the guided practice, and the independent practice. As a result of creating all of my curriculum, sometimes I don't get around to creating the review and scaffolded practice my English Language Learners need. These materials will save me a lot of time and ensure that I always have an activity ready to go for my struggling students. Additionally, I know that it is an activity that directly relates to a standard and it doesn't require me to reinvent the wheel.

Thank you for helping me help my ELL students!”

  • Students Desperately Crave Series!

    Funded Oct 22, 2013

Thank you so much for donating these books. My students' needs have been met! I have some of my lowest readers finishing books faster than ever in order to read the next one in the series. They are updating their wishlist so they remember the next book they want to read. Great reading habits are being formed thanks to the addition of these books. Additionally, I have my students from previous years coming to check them out! These books are helping to keep my students' interest level in reading high. It is turning them into habitual and passionate readers!”

  • I Scream. They Scream. We all Scream for BOOKS!

    Funded Mar 28, 2013

Thank you so much for your generous donation to my classroom! These books are flying off my bookshelves! The kids are reading classic books in Graphic Novel forms and loving it.

I am very happy to be able to expose them to classic novels early on and hook their interest. Through these graphic novels, I am able to prepare them for high school because they will already have some interest and knowledge on many of the books they will be required to read. Additionally, I have hooked some of my most reluctant readers and many boys!

This donation has made a world of difference during my independent reading time.”

  • Vocabulary is alive!

    Funded Dec 30, 2010

Thank you so much for the projector. It has been an invaluable addition to my classroom.

The projector has made my classroom instruction more vivid and exciting! I have been able to deliver my vocabulary lessons using videos. Additionally, I have been able to introduce new material or reinforce material through educational videos. Being that my students are all English Language Learners, reinforcing or introducing material through a visual makes the concepts more concrete and accessible for my students.

The projector has made my lessons more exciting and fun. My students are always ready for the next lesson in order to see a new video. Vocabulary is no longer mundane and boring. Thank you for supporting teachers and students!”

  • My Students are Starving for Books!

    Funded Oct 10, 2012

Thank you so much for adding books to my library. When the students saw the boxes of books their faces lit up! I had to ask them to stay seated because they literally jumped out of their seats excited to browse new books. It is a teacher's dream to have students jumping out of their seats at the sight of new books. I even have prior students coming back to check out books from my classroom library now. It is truly rewarding to see.

Additionally, thank you for helping to support my lower students. This donation added new lower leveled series to my collection. My lowest students have begun reading and coming back for more in order to finish the series. Specifically, the Blast to the Past Series has even made my students interested in history!

Thank you for supporting literacy in high need classrooms.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Valverde
