  • I Want Choices On Where to Sit: Part One!

    Funded Mar 13, 2025

THANK YOU for your generosity and for fully-funding this project. I am beyond elated to have this beautiful table where my students can sit and at do their work. Most importantly, they LOVE it!

They can sit at this table during math workshop or reading workshop time. They can't wait for that time of the day. It's definitely a popular spot to sit at. Here's a funny thing: there's an old school table they can also sit at, but they don't unless there is no room at the new table.

I am always so humbled by your generosity!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Rico

  • We Want to Sit Together on the Same Rug!

    Funded Mar 12, 2025

I don't have the words to truly express my sincere gratitude for your generosity towards my students. THANK YOU for this amazing rug! My students LOVE it!

When I asked them, "Should I take pictures of you on the rug or should you draw a picture to show the donors what you look like on the rug?" They chose to draw pictures.

I am so thankful that I get to meet with them on the rug and do whole group things. Their favorite has got to be read-alouds. My favorite: seeing them have room to sit comfortable, in a designated space to learn!

    THANK YOU!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Rico

  • I Can Do My Work at School and Home, Too!

    Funded Mar 12, 2025

THANK YOU so much for your generous donation and fully-funding this project of double-sided whiteboards and whiteboard materials, base ten units, and folders. These materials are now in full force. The students now have essential materials they need to complete some of the work at home. YAY!

My students were so excited to see these materials and to take them home to use.

It is so heart-warming to know that there are people like you who truly care about my very special students and go out of their way to bless them with what they need to have the best learning experience possible.

    Your actions are so significant!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Rico

  • Let’s Learn All About the Life Cycles of Animals!

    Funded Jan 3, 2025

The students have had so much fun learning about the life cycles of plants and animals. It has been very rewarding for me as their teacher to see their enthusiasm to learn about the how life cycles are similar and different. I am so impressed with at how some of them have made connections between the life cycles of animals and people. One student said, "A juvenile turtle is like a human teenager because its between baby and adult!" I said, "That is absolutely correct!"

Thank you for caring about my students and for funding projects like this one to enhance their learning and truly make a difference.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Rico

  • I Read the Best When Books Are At My Level!

    Funded Jan 3, 2025

I am so thankful for the books in different levels you donated.

These different genre books in reading levels A-F are being checked out by a large group of students in these levels. What does it look like? They select at least three books of their choice, place them in a gallon-size storage bag, and take them home to read. Yay,they are able to complete their reading homework without having the issue of not having books to read. Most importantly, they are able to develop their reading skills and also gain a love for reading and become life-long readers.

You are so kind and THANK YOU!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Rico

  • We Are Diverse and Emotional!

    Funded Dec 3, 2024

This year I am so honored to be the teacher of a pretty diverse group of students. I have students who are from or are descendants of people from Asia, Central America, North America, and the Pacific Islands. It's so beautiful!

The books you donated about Cambodia, El Salvador, and the Pacific Islands are in high demand! The students love to see and read books that they can connect to. Some of them have learned so interesting facts about these places.

This year I am also excited to have a group of students who love sharing their feelings. So the books about different emotions are so well-liked.

    THANK YOU for your generosity!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Rico

  • Here Come the Rainy Day Engineers!

    Funded Dec 22, 2024

I am so thankful for every project that gets funded on www.donorschoose.org. However, this project, "Here Come the Rainy Day Engineers!" was just extra extra special. Every single one of the engineering magnetic cube sets and the 100 pieces puzzles are a total hit with the students. Let me tell you that I had to come up with a rotation schedule to allow all students to have a chance to use every set.

As for the puzzles, I'm so impressed at how some of them worked as a team to build them. They were so proud of themselves.

    FOREVER, THANK YOU!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Rico

  • May I Please Get Headphones That Do Work?

    Funded Dec 3, 2024

Oh, my, how do I say THANK YOU enough? These headphones are such a blessing to my students. FINALLY, my students have headphones that work! YAY! These headphones are of great quality. Plus, they came in a wonderful storage bag to keep them safe. My students are able to go on the different application for learning without any unnecessary issues.

I wish you could've seen their sweet smiles as I gave them their new headphones. They were so elated and so was I! They are taking good care of these headphones!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Rico

  • Let's Gather and Learn on a Comfy Rug!

    Funded Oct 28, 2024

I am so thankful to you for making this project a reality.

The students were so excited when they saw this rug on the floor and couldn't wait to sit on it. They all want to sit on it, but can't because the rug is too small. so, I have a small group sit on it at a time. The students come to the rug when it's independent reading time, buddy reading time, for fun activities, and for small-group instruction.

Today, a group of students gathered on this rug to build a puzzle and they loved it. My students want you to know that they are so thankful!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Rico

  • It’s Time for School and School Supplies!

    Funded Oct 28, 2024

I hope and wish these photos captured the sincere happiness my students experienced as they opened these boxes of school supplies. They loved the high quality scissors, large box of crayons, the extra large glue stick, the full size eraser, but their favorite, without a doubt was the sharpener.

Let me tell you, they loved these materials and they opted to keep these school supplies at school and take the supplies they had at school, home.

I was glad to have some of the volunteers at our school wrap up these boxes as Christmas gifts.

It was a Merry Christmas for these precious students!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Rico
