  • Bring Us Closer During Distance Learning

    Funded Dec 2, 2020

Thank you for your generosity! Because of your donation, our students are able to participate more in the class, and I am able to monitor their participation much better. The monitor helps me see the students who are doing distance learning, and the headphones for myself help me hear them and helps them hear me much better.

As for the student headphones, they were such a gift for students, because it helped them focus on what they were listening to, and outside noise was cancelled.

On behalf of my students, I thank you.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Sanchez

  • STEM learning Micro Bit by bit

    Funded Oct 16, 2020

I really want to thank you for your generous donation to our classroom. This year, our distance learning model has made it hard for us to do as much STEM learning as we'd like, but these Micro Bits have definitely been a great tool.

With the use of online software, students are able to code their Micro Bits to measure light, humidity, and sound. They may code them to have certain lights turn on in a pattern, or turn on when there is a sound/vibration nearby.

This practical, hands-on use of coding makes them want to learn more about how coding affects their lives, and awakens their curiosity.

Thank you for making this possible.”

  • Playing with Circuits

    Funded Jun 2, 2020

Thank you for your generous donation. Because of your generosity, my students are able to use their curiosity to learn about not only plant life cycles, but also which factors affect plants during various stages of their life cycles. They are questioning, creating, innovating, and revising their thinking repeatedly. Having these resources allows them to integrate technology with hands-on creating as well as reading and writing. Thank you for helping this great group of kids increase their scientific and engineering knowledge.”

  • Distance Learning Equity Access

    Funded May 7, 2020

Thank you very much for your generosity and kindness!

It was very gratifying for me to be able to give my students the ability to connect to our class and use the Kindle Fire devices to make stop motion videos, which they had learned how to do in class before we went into lock down. All of them were very creative, and we were able to work on our weather unit until the end of the school year.

Many of my students were excited to get the headphones also, because this means they'll be able to work without disturbing their siblings, who were also on distance learning classes, and they will be using them when we return to school.

Once again, thanks for your generous help!”

  • Teaching to the Curious at Home

    Funded May 7, 2020

Thank you for your generosity and kindness towards my students during this difficult time. My students were so excited to see the new markers and posters I was able to share with them, and some of them immediately wanted us to work on STEM projects with them, as well as the writing, math, and reading we usually do. As you can see, they did a variety of wonderful work because of the new supplies with which I was able to teach.

Many of them were in awe that there were so many people willing to donate so our class could continue to learn, and that inspired them to stay engaged while distance learning. Thank you again for your generosity.”

  • Help Us Gain Math Literacy

    Funded Dec 12, 2018

Were you one of those students who found it difficult to memorize your multiplication facts in elementary school? Do you still find yourself having a hard time recalling math facts at the drop of a hat? Because many people do not find memorizing math facts to be easy or effective, we've started to teach students through stories, games, and activities which will make multiplication math facts more interesting and applicable to their lives.

The books I was able to obtain because of your generosity will help future generations learn their math facts in a fun, and more brain-friendly way. That way, our future doctors, engineers, and scientists will have effective strategies to do math which otherwise might seem difficult.

Thank you so much for your generosity.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Sanchez

  • LEGO My STEM Creativity!

    Funded Nov 27, 2018

I am writing on behalf of my students and myself to thank you so much for your generosity! I teach a group of bilingual third graders who are very interested in science, technology, and engineering, because I have let my own passion for those things infect them from the first day they step into my classroom. Because of this, my students were beyond excited when they saw the STEM packages arrive. Thank you for giving them this opportunity to explore science through play. They are fascinated with the Lego's building kits, and can't wait for our "science fun Fridays" to play with them.”

  • Let me tell you A-Bot my class...

    Funded Oct 24, 2018

Thank you so much for your generosity. My students have been inspired to learn more about coding after having the opportunity to play with the Ozobots and put R2D2 together using Little Bits. Many of them had a hard time understanding why coding was important, but not that they know that it is another language which will allow them to do cool things with technology in, the buy-in is incredible!

Because of your generous donation, my students are learning about coding, robotics, and reading and math are integrated into their technology, so that they are truly becoming 21st century learners.

Thank you again, on behalf of myself and my 26 li”

  • "Socc" it to us!

    Funded Mar 27, 2018

Thank you so much for your generosity in giving to this project. My students were very excited when they heard that our project for soccer materials had been funded. Every day they were asking me when the soccer "stuff" would arrive. All the testing we've been doing will be rewarded by a lot of play time on the fields as soon as this rain allows it! Many of my fellow teachers have already expressed interest in coming out and playing with my class, so we're planning on having some tournaments going on with the supplies we've acquired. Again, thank you again for giving to our project and making it possible.”

  • Coding in Little Bits

    Funded Dec 24, 2017

Thank you very much for your generosity! My students are using the Little Bits to continue growing their knowledge of coding. We started with Scratch, and are currently learning how currents work, as well as how to code the Little Bits into turning on and off intermittently and on command.

When students first saw the materials they were excited to start using them. While we take turns and have to use them in small groups, we have also learned more about collaboration and teamwork through them.

Next, we plan to use our knowledge to go on to building small robots which we will share with our first grade "buddies" as we teach them about coding.”

I am the teacher librarian for two awesome schools, each of which is special in its own way. One of them has three programs on campus: conventional, bilingual, and gifted. The other has students from preschool to eighth grade. Both of them are full of curious, inquisitive students who arrive at school ready to learn and achieve academic greatness. I want to do anything I can to make literacy part of their lives and encourage a love of reading.
