  My 4th and 5th grade students and I enjoy reading the Scholastic magazines very much. Every week we are provided with a great opportunity to learn about the current events in our community, our country, and the greater world around us.

  The magazines not only help my students enhance their reading skills by learning about the world and other cultures, but they also helps foster empathy for others. With so many current world struggles, this is more important than ever.

• An Artful Class and Community

  Thank you for helping my students and I put more color into our classroom, our amazing school and Poway community. With the materials ordered, my students and I created colorful "catrinas" for the Day of the Dead schoolwide celebration. We created these catrinas using the sharpies, foil paper, acrylic paint, among other things. The catrinas helped decorate our grade level "ofrenda."

  Many parents, grandparents, family and community members were able to attend this cultural celebration which honors the life of our loved ones who have passed away. This is a joyous celebration with colorful ofrendas, music and food.

• Welcome Back to School

  Thank you for helping us kick off the 2023-2024 school year in such a positive way! The first few weeks of school are a great time to establish classroom routines, get to know each other, and set high expectations for the rest of the school year.

My students were able to create individual, group, and colorful art projects which helped decorate our class and set a positive and relaxing classroom environment.

• Equity for All

  Funded May 11, 2023

  Thank you! My students started using the individual student cushions from the first day we received them. Students no longer have to wait a few days for their turn to use these comfy cushions since we now have a whole class set. This is all thanks to your kindness and generosity.

  Equity in the school setting is very important to me. Our students come from different socio-economic backgrounds and their families have different resources at home. However, this should not prevent students to receive a fair shot in our current educational system.
