  • Tech to Talk in Speech

    Funded Dec 31, 2024

I would like to extend my gratitude to you for taking the time to support the students who receive speech therapy. Your generosity has provided the students within our department with access to technology that will support their learning and skill acquisition. Already, in the short time that we have been utilizing our new device, our students have been able to learn new skills such as augmentative communication, utilizing pictures to support communication, allowing them to share their ideas with ease. It is with your kindness that learning can now be expanded to new modalities and skill sets.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Alexa

  • Time for Speech!

    Funded Jun 26, 2023

I would like to once again express my gratitude for your generosity in donating to my classroom. This project was important to me as an educator because having materials to use in speech therapy that are engaging and inviting are important for student engagement. Having access to Teachers Pay Teachers helps myself and my colleagues plan lessons and activities for our students at various levels of support. This support also helps the students transition within the classroom and help our school community at large. This has created the option for limitless possibilities and I am forever grateful for your support.”

  • Color in Speech

    Funded Jun 15, 2023

I would like to once again express my gratitude for your generosity in donating to my classroom. This project was important to me as an educator because having materials to use in speech therapy that are bright and inviting are important for student engagement. Having access to a color printer and paper has allowed me to create materials to also support students and teachers directly in the classroom. This support helps the students transition within the classroom and help our school community at large. This has created the option for limitless possibilities and I am forever grateful for your support.”

  • The Eagle's Nest Food Pantry

    Funded Dec 31, 2021

I wanted to take this opportunity to thank each of you for your support of this project. With your contributions, we were able to transform our space to become an amazing shopping experience for our students. This project has allowed us to reach students who are impacted by food insecurity. They have been able to come into our incredible and welcoming space to select food to bring home, which allows them to feel as contributors to their households. Students entering our pantry for the first time are met with joy, often exclaiming, "WOW!" when they see the stocked shelving. They feel that it reminds them of a supermarket and state that they can't believe that this is in their school building. They are happy to pick their favorite foods or snacks, filling their shopping bags thinking about what they will want to pick on their next visit. The students are able to describe the foods and explain why it is their favorite while they shop, engaging in collaborative discussions with peers. They are also able to organize and categorize by item type. The students have been able to join together as a community to make sure that this pantry a positive space for learning and social emotional support. Your contributions to this project has made our vision possible. On behalf of our school community, thank you for your time and generosity.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Alexa

The school community is comprised of a diverse student body, faculty, and staff. Located within the Mariners Harbor neighborhood of Staten Island, our school is a Title I school in which many students are from low-income households. Through this pantry initiative, students will be able to obtain independence, autonomy, and a sense of contribution to their families. Students will be able to build upon various social and life skills while utilizing this vital support. Bridging the gap of food insecurity will foster student nutrition, aiding in their academic pursuits. Supporting students through this venture will increase their interest in school, further strengthening academic confidence and success. Shelving is needed to create an open shopping space for students to see the pantry items they can select from. Shopping baskets will support the social routine and they will be able to hold their selected items. Shopping bags will allow them to carry their grocery items home. Rubbermaid storage units and safe are necessary for excess storage.
