My students are in High School and have amazing personalities and abilities that allow them to participate in many activities. They take the alternative assessments and benefit from extensive behavior communication, social, and academic supports. I find their abilities rather that focus on their disabilities and include them in as many activities as they typical peers such as buddies programs, inclusive sports, arts, and music programs. I advocate for them with administrators and school staff to ensure their inclusion around campus. These kids are awesome! They can do so much and I make my classroom a safe, calming, and welcoming experience for them every day. I train my classroom staff on evidence based behavior intervention strategies and maintain myself as a positive model for them to follow.
