Many of my students have reading disabilities that make it challenging for them to read. Many of them don’t like to read because it’s difficult for them and I don’t have a classroom library with books that interest them that would encourage them to want to read. I do my best to instill the love of reading but it is difficult for me to do so with only a few book choices that are available in my classroom. I am a first year teacher in a new school district that is surrounded by low income homes. I wish I could afford to buy my students the books I need but I can’t. I hope that with your help, my students can finally have a classroom library with books at their reading level that will help me to instill the love of reading but also to teach them to read. With your support, together, we can do this. Readers are leaders. Help equip my classroom with the books I need so they can become proficient readers because they are the leaders of tomorrow.
