My students thrive, learn, and retain more information when they have hands on activities. Giving low income students with disabilities hands-on learning experiences is essential to their success after high school. I am asking for a microwave cart, a portable greenhouse, an Ant Farm, 2 cans of black chalkboard paint, a pack of Cedar Markers Liquid Chalk Markers with 40 Free Chalkboard Labels, a set of Week-by-Week Phonics Packets, a set of RTI: Easy Phonics Interventions, a pack of pencil Grip Writing CLAWs, one Ants Amazing Bugs Packet, and a set of Word Families Flash Cards. I plan on using the ant farm and greenhouse to help them understand the life cycle animals. In our greenhouse we'll grow vegetables to use in recipes in our classroom kitchen. I plan to use the microwave cart as part of our cooking simulations. We'll use the chalkboard paint and chalk markers as an interactive word wall. The literacy materials and pencil CLAWS will be used as interventions for some of my illiterate teenagers. By implementing hands on science projects, cooking lessons, and literacy interventions my students will be successful after high school.
