Inquisitive Kindergarteners Need Hands On Experiences!
Funded Dec 2, 2013When the order arrived the kids were so excited and all they wanted to do was to open the packages and get started playing. Right away I could see how the children would benefit from using the materials to reinforce what we are doing in class. We started using the building words to reinforce blending. Then they progressed to putting sentences together by using several of the building sentences centers. Everything is color coordinated so it is easy to keep organized by the students themselves. I can see how they work in pairs to help each other and they are very engaged. It really helps to have meaningful games they can go to after they are finished with their work. They don't have to come and ask me, "What can I do now?". I am introducing each center and how to care for it one at a time.
The children who are second language learners are really able to learn rhyming with the hands on rhyming tubs. It introduces new vocabulary and rhymes at the same time.
I have a few students who need additional alphabet practice and they are very happy to use the touch and trace alphabet. It helps them "see it" in their brains as they trace each letter with their finger.
Once again, thank you for this awesome gift!”

Assessing My Students Through Upgraded Technology
Funded Jan 22, 2012Thank you so very much for your generous donation to my classroom. My students are so thrilled to be able to use the tablet to reinforce the skills they are learning in reading readiness and math. There are many apps which help individual children practice their ABC knowledge. The children who need extra help with writing are eager to use the apps which help them sound out words. The tablet allows them to learn at their own pace.
This year we implemented a new on-line assessment program called DIBELS. It has been incredibly difficult to be able to assess the children on the outdated computer in our class. This tablet has allowed my students to experience the latest in technology. Testing for Dibbles is so much easier now and I also believe it allows for more accurate scoring of each student. Thanks again for making it possible for my class to have this new technology. ”
