  • Page Turners: Bridging Diverse Worlds Through Books

    Funded Nov 29, 2024

In our classroom, reading is a vibrant and engaging experience where students explore new worlds, build their confidence, and develop a love for learning. With cozy reading corners, interactive discussions, and a variety of books that reflect their diverse backgrounds and interests, students are constantly discovering stories that inspire them. Thanks to your generosity, our library has expanded, giving students access to books that spark curiosity and deepen their comprehension skills.

Several students have been particularly captivated by the new books. One student, who previously struggled to find joy in reading, now eagerly selects graphic novels and chapter books that match his interests, making reading a daily adventure. Another student has become a leader in our classroom book talks, sharing her excitement and encouraging peers to dive into stories she loves. These books are not just pages—they are opening doors to imagination, growth, and confidence, and we are incredibly grateful for your support in making this possible!”

    With gratitude,

  • House of Arts

    Funded Sep 29, 2022

Expression of feelings through art goes beyond verbal language. The looks on my student's faces were priceless. The event they were anxiously waiting for had finally arrived, and they were beyond excited. The brown bag filled with art materials was enough for them to express their gratitude in more ways than one.

The sip and paint activity allowed them to build on their art skills. The art project and art instruction helped the students to continue to develop their development of motor skills, language skills, social skills, decision-making, risk-taking, and inventiveness. It allowed them to reflect and discuss their art project with their peers.

We just wanted to thank you very much for the beautiful art supplies you donated and disbursed to our students. We are so fortunate for donors like you.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Dorcent

  • Artistic Moves, Trending and Arty!

    Funded Sep 17, 2020

Increased self-confidence and self-understanding, enhanced communication skills, and bringing everyone together both virtually and physically is what we were able to accomplish with the materials given to us.When my students had the opportunity to receive an art kit equipped with everything they need, they were ecstatic and surprised. After receiving the devastating news that they were not going to have art due to budgeting issues at their school, they were not expecting this. I was so happy to bring this to them.

The arts are as important as academics, and this is what I truly believe in and was the force behind my writing this grant. Being virtual (for several weeks now due to school shutdown) has taken its toll on our school community for various of reasons, however with these materials I can bring art alive!- virtually just like we have in person.

Our next step is to continue the projects I have aligned by placing the kits in individual bags, with everything they need to engage in fun-filled art projects hosted by myself and various volunteers. We are "sipping" and painting virtually until we meet again in person. I can't wait. I thank you for honoring the arts and understanding that students develop skills like resilience, grit, and a growth mindset to help them master their craft, do well academically, and succeed in life through art.”

  • Readers Rocket: Blasting Off into Nonfiction Adventures

    Funded Oct 3, 2012

I wanted to take a second to formally thank you for the generous gift you gave to my students this year. Know that these gestures do not go unnoticed. I am as appreciative as a teacher can be. The look on my students' face really touched my heart.

I am indeed grateful to all of you that took the time to read my proposal and give towards the project. Thanks can't really convey the gratitude I feel for all of the precious books that my students LOVE to borrow, share and explore in our nonfiction part of our library.”

  • Youth Empowered Video

    Funded Dec 19, 2008

I had to look twice to see if it were true! I can't begin to explain how grateful it is for my students to know that if you try, it CAN happen. I informed my students about my proposal and ever since then they constantly wondered when it would come. I thank you from the bottom of my heart that my project was funded. As an educator, I am always looking for innovative ways to make a difference in the children's lives as well as the community.

With our new materials my students can learn by doing and actively explore and interpret the world around them through the use and power of video. My students will have a VOICE and their questions, experiences, perspectives and knowledge will be the center of their learning, they will gather information to tell a story while developing multiple literacy skills so their voice is more eloquent and powerful. They will get a chance to go out in their school community and make a difference by creating real work for real audiences. Most importantly, my students will be engaged in a classroom community of collaborative teamwork in a nontraditional and exciting way!

Thank you for your time and consideration”
