  • Making the Library/Media Center Into a Makerspace! Part 2

    Funded May 13, 2019

Thank yo so much for your generosity in funding these additional three Chromebooks for my students! I am so excited that I can offer a practically 1:1 device ratio in the Library/Media Center for our makerspace activities.

I have been demonstrating the programming features of some of the robots we have, and the children are hooked! They are so motivated to learn the programming features and to bring their robots "to life".

Our school believes in STEAM education integrated into all activities, and these new Chromebooks are a perfect way to support that!”

    Mrs. Ojalvo

  • Making the Library/Media Center into a Makerspace!

    Funded Mar 26, 2019

Thank you so much for these sensational chromebooks! Already they are being used by students of grades 1 through 5 on a daily basis. Students are doing research, creating slideshows using Google slides, writing articles using Google docs, searching for books using our online catalog, and getting ready to program bots as well. Without these materials the students would not be able to advance as well as they do. And let me tell you, they noticed the NEW Chromebooks right away and couldn't wait to use them. I truly believe that this also worked as a motivational tool with some students. Thank you Donors! You made this happen!”

  • Check This Out!

    Funded Apr 17, 2019

Thank you donors! The Check-out station is ready to go go go! We have already installed the new desktop and it is gorgeous. Students are checking out books in style. It's quicker, slimmer, sleeker, and most importantly, up to date! No more error messages to delay students from borrowing books, no more slow check out process. The library has become more efficient. Everyone knows how important it is to get books into the hands of children. This desktop will be doing just that, for many children, for many years to come. You have made a difference. Thank you donors:)”

  • Research on the Go!

    Funded Dec 3, 2018

Thank you so much for your generous donation of a laptop to use with my SMART Board in the Library/Media Center. Now I can continue to give effective lessons on how to search the web properly for information, use databases effectively, and create presentations using Google Slides. These are just some ways the laptop will be used.

One of the most exciting things we use the laptop/SMART Board for is to visit places we have never been. For example, Jan Brett's (famous children's author) house, or the jungle in Africa. We can visit China to see what every day life is like for a 3rd grader overseas. Culture, culture, culture.

This laptop will be used with over 500 students throughout the year for many years. It is a tool for education that I, as a Library/Media Specialist, could not be without. I thank you from the bottom of my heart for helping me be better at what I do every day.”

  • Writing Can Be Fun and Exciting in 3rd Grade!

    Funded Nov 12, 2017

Thank you for being so generous! My students are writing in style with these beautiful, colorful, helpful writing folders! It's all thanks to you. Using these folders to organize their writing drafts and guide them through their writing projects, has made writing more fun and exciting for everyone. They are excited to know that they can keep these folders and use them in future grades as well. The writing process is taught in every grade. Also, our new staple gun has already been used to hang posters. Thank you for that. Eventually we will use it to publish books. So much to look forward to and it's all thanks to you. Thank you donors:)”

  • Creating With Chromebooks

    Funded Mar 30, 2017

Thank you so much for your kind donations. My students have already started using these Chromebooks! We are using them in third through fifth grade for research about countries, cities, and topics in the news. The Newspaper Club is using them in order to write their articles and save them to Google Docs. In addition to all this, these Chromebooks are being used in the Library/Media Center in order for children to search for books. Your donation has impacted my students for this school year and for many more school years to come. Thank you so much for your thoughtfulness and generosity.”

  • Putting Our Chrome in Their Place

    Funded Dec 31, 2016

Thank you so much for supporting this project! It is truly amazing the impact a small storage cabinet can have on a program in school. Because we have this cabinet, I am able to keep all of the devices charged and ready to go, while they are also secure. The students in my classes, especially my newspaper club, have already learned the routine of unplugging them before removing them from the cart and plugging them back in when they are returned. What a fabulous way to teach responsibility! We appreciate your kindness and generosity!”

  • Extra! Extra! Read All About It!

    Funded Dec 4, 2016

Where do I begin? Our first newspaper has been published. With the help of our new printer we were able to print drafts, images, comic strips, and much much more. My students love their press passes. They walked proudly through the school building wearing them. It has been a great experience creating this newspaper and all of these supplies have really helped us get there. I wanted it to feel real for my students and it did. You made this happen! Thank you donors. Thank you for giving me the supplies I needed to help make this a great experience for my writers. These supplies will continue to help our school newspaper and those who create it thrive. The scissors we received have already been used by students in all grades from pre k through 5th. These will continue to service my students for many years to come. I'm lucky to have people like you to help fill in the funding gaps our schools sometimes encounter and give these children the best learning experiences possible.”

  • Story Scenes

    Funded Nov 20, 2016

Thank you so much for these much needed supplies. The students have already benefited by using the glues, pencils, and colored paper. We've created story scenes in Kindergarten for the story The Hat by Jan Brett. Also, this laminator has already helped me to label our library with beautiful signs that stay in good shape throughout the year. Our library cards (around 500 of them) can now be laminated so that they don't fall apart. The consumables are priceless. The laminator will help us keep this library running well for many years to come. On behalf of myself and the entire 236 community, Thank you!”

  • Getting Smarter Day By Day

    Funded Aug 21, 2016

Thank you, your generosity has already gone a long way! The laptop, keyboard, and mouse you donated will be used daily in the Library/Media Center in so many different ways. Last week we used it to participate in Jumpstart's Read For The Record by reading The Bear Ate Your Sandwich. This week we are getting to know some authors and visiting their homes via the web. Over the summer I was so concerned about what I would do for a laptop to go with my SmartBoard. Now I am thrilled to use this laptop on a daily basis for instruction and also to excite my students so they will read, read, read! You really made a difference! Thank you all!!”
