  • Printing in the Library Opens Possibilities!

    Funded Aug 26, 2024

Thank you so much for making it possible for our school library to print! We've printed amazing banners for special events. Our related services patrons are now able to print reports and other important documents needed for their services. Of course, now I am able to print a variety of reports that are crucial for this library to function as well.

Our newspaper club is excited to print articles for our school newspaper.

The possibilities are endless. But what matters most is that the possibility is there. Thank you for this! Wishing you all a happy holiday season and a happy healthy new year.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Ojalvo

  • Creativity in the Library/Media Center

    Funded Mar 27, 2024

Thank you so much for helping my students reach their fullest potential with consumables that are necessary for the creation of their multimedia projects. The new microphones will be great tools for the oral component of their presentations, which our quieter students will really benefit from. And of course bookmarks for our students to enjoy as they read fabulous chapter books from our school library. Thank you for making this possible. Your donation will impact ALL students at PS 236 (about 600).”

  • Enrichment at the Library/Media Center Is in Need of Supplies!

    Funded Mar 29, 2023

Thank you for your generous support of this project! My students and I are truly thrilled that through your kindness, we could share these experiences. These essential, yet consumable, art/building supplies were greatly needed to complete our projects.

My students used these art supplies to continue to make beautiful multimedia projects about animals, people, countries, and more.

We shared these finished projects with their families, and they were not only impressed by the work, but so thankful that the cost of the materials was not passed on to them.

    You made a great difference!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Ojalvo

  • Extra! Extra! The Newspaper Club Needs Supplies for Their Journalists

    Funded Nov 29, 2022

Thank you so much for helping our Newspaper Club function professionally and our library keep students smiling with adorable book marks. The Newspaper Club has been using their notepads to take notes on interviews and special events. They feel so proud walking around the school with their press passes as well. And those adorable bookmarks, well, they are quite a hit. I'll have to order some more soon. You made it possible for me to give my students what they deserve to make clubs and library extra special. I thank you from the bottom of my heart for that.”

  • Remote Teacher Needs a Working Device

    Funded Jul 15, 2021

Thank you from the bottom of my heart for this very useful MacBook Air Laptop. You have all been so generous and thoughtful to me and my amazing students.

Let me list just SOME of the ways this device will be used. The MacBook Air will be used to create multimedia lessons for students of all ages, to create signs and banners for our school, for digital presentations on our new Promethean Board, for library book orders, to research possible new books for our school library, for remote instuction (if needed), and soon it will be utilized for our Newspaper Club.

This device will be usefull to our Library for many years to come and will touch the lives of all the students in our school community in one way or another. Thank you for helping me make this happen for our children.”

  • Chromebooks for the Library/Media Center

    Funded Dec 31, 2019

Thank you so much for these amazing Chromebooks. They have been used by students on all grade levels (K-5). We are creating digital art, researching, making news, and so much more. The Kindergarten is researching animals on their level while the 4th graders researched famous musical composers on a higher level.

What's exciting about these Chromebooks for the students is that they are compact and easy to use. The battery life is great from what I can tell and the students love that they are "new".

Thank you so much for helping me give my students the tools they need to carry out the projects involved with my program in the Library/Media Center. These devices will be with us for many years to come and will impact the education of hundreds, even thousands, of children over the years. You made it happen. Thank you:)”

  • Breaking National Records by Reading: It's a Community Thing!

    Funded Oct 11, 2019

You did it! You made it possible for every P.S. 236 classroom to participate in the Jumpstart Read for the Record event on November 14th! Thank you donors! The students loved reading Thank You, Omu! Also, they were so excited about being part of a record breaking event. Through this book, the children learned about breaking records, they were inspired to write thank you letters to Omu, and so much more. Our youngest students decided what food they were going to bring to Omu's house for dinner and created fabulous illustrations. They were so excited. Even after this wonderful event has ended, we have students asking to borrow this wonderful book in classrooms and at the school library. Also, I have been approached by 1st graders for feedback about this record breaking event, "did we get the numbers yet?" is what they are asking. I am truly grateful to all of you for giving us this chance to be a part of such a fun, special, and educational event. Thank you:)”

  • Multimedia in the Library/Media Center

    Funded Aug 12, 2019

Thank you so much for helping our Library/Media Center stay up to date on our technology by purchasing this amazing Epson printer and excellent project software to go with it . Your generosity will make a difference in our school in so many ways.

The students are very excited to use this printer. Our Newspaper Club writes articles for our school. They will be using this printer all year long to print articles that are high quality for everyone in our school community to read.

The Epson printer will also be used by educators to create beautiful banners and important signs to make the school and library look beautiful while keeping everyone informed.

Let's not forget the software you have purchased that will help us create these beautiful signs and banners. What a great combination of products you have given us.

Thank you again for your generosity. These items will benefit all of our students for many years to come.”

  • Multi Items for Multi-Media

    Funded May 9, 2019

Thank you so much for these important supplies that help ensure we are working to our highest capacity here at the media center. The consumable items, such as glue, construction paper and pencils, are being used daily by students of grades PK through 5. These students create art, write scripts, do research, write newspaper articles, and so much more. As for the technology, what would we do without a fully functional mouse? It would make it hard to use our new desktop. And the computer stand is so important because the added USB ports make it possible for us to use the desktop to serve several purposes. These supplies/equipment items have impacted and will continue to impact every student here at PS 236 in the future. Thank you for being so generous and making this possible.”

    With gratitude,

  • Making the Library/Media Center Into a Makerspace! Part 2

    Funded May 13, 2019

Thank yo so much for your generosity in funding these additional three Chromebooks for my students! I am so excited that I can offer a practically 1:1 device ratio in the Library/Media Center for our makerspace activities.

I have been demonstrating the programming features of some of the robots we have, and the children are hooked! They are so motivated to learn the programming features and to bring their robots "to life".

Our school believes in STEAM education integrated into all activities, and these new Chromebooks are a perfect way to support that!”
