  • Fostering Imagination and Love for Reading

    Funded Dec 24, 2024

I want to extend our deepest gratitude for your generous contribution toward our core literature collection. Thanks to your support, our students have access to engaging, diverse, and thought-provoking books that are opening doors to new worlds and sparking curiosity each day.

In our classroom, reading is more than just a subject—it's a journey. These new texts have allowed us to dive into critical skills like analyzing character development, understanding themes, and making connections between literature and real-life experiences. We've seen students develop stronger comprehension abilities and a newfound excitement for discussions.

Because of your generosity, reading has become a more inclusive and enjoyable experience for our students. Your support has truly made a difference in nurturing a love of reading and lifelong learning.

Thank you once again for your kindness and dedication to the growth and success of our students. We are genuinely grateful for your partnership.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Reyes

  • Give Our Books a Home!

    Funded Aug 29, 2024

I am writing to express my deepest gratitude for your generous contribution to our DonorsChoose project, "Give Our Books a Home." Your support is helping us make a significant impact on the lives of our students, and I cannot thank you enough for making this possible.

Because of your donation, we have been able to organize our library books and core literature books so that they are more accessible to the students. I have also been able to display and highlight different books that support the units that we are going over and monthly themes. My students have used the animal books for their research as they can easily find them on the book display. They have also been able to read books from various authors during Hispanic Heritage Month and Native American Culture Month. These resources will not only enrich our students' educational experience but also inspire them to dream big and reach their full potential.

Their most favorite donation is probaby the mini rug in front of the library. They take turns sitting comfortably there during quiet reading time or during small group work.

Once again, thank you for your generosity and for making a difference in our classroom. We are excited to put these resources to work and will be sure to keep you updated on the progress and impact of your contribution.

    With heartfelt thanks,”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Reyes

  • Engaging Using Technology

    Funded Nov 17, 2022

The first time I used the tablet, I was amazed at how fast apps were loading! It was pretty amazing to be able to immediately use technology without having to wait for things to load and the buffering and crashing. I have been using it to grade, plan, share my screen to project videos, and even having my students use it as an extra device when they do not have a Chromebook or something is not working in their own devices.

Having a secondary device (which is now my primary device) has made it so much easier for me to be able to do different tasks. I have taken it home so that I can grade - the touch screen makes navigating so much easier. I am able to plan by using different resources available online without the device crashing because it takes a long time to load. My students have used it to access our district's online platform to do their work; they've used it to record themselves for their presentations. I've used it to share videos for our morning routines as well as video lessons for Science.

I really appreciate having the technology available for myself and for my students. Although not one particular student has used it more than others, all my students have benefited from the tablet being available for their use. Because we have cultivated a safe space for each other, my students know that they have a device that they can use.

Thank you so much for your support and help to our classroom!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Reyes

  • Active Body, Healthy Mind

    Funded Nov 16, 2022

"Mrs. Reyes! We have equipment?!" The first day my kids saw the the cart with the PE equipment, they were so pleasantly surprised. I can't tell you how many times my students asked if we could go out for PE that period.

Having all the PE equipment has inspired me to sign up for PE professional development so that I can more effectively use the equipment with my students. PE time is so much more structured as I teach my students different skills based on the PE standards. You"d be surprised to find out that not everyone knows how to throw or catch, or kick, gallop or know the difference between skip and a hop.

I have now built PE time in the afternoons twice a week to go outside and work on different skills. We've worked on walking - galloping, throwing and catching, kicking, jumping, and then they have some time to have some free play at the end of the period.

It's so much fun seeing the kids outside, in the sun, and being kids (while being physically active)!

    I”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Reyes

  • Full-STEAM Ahead!

    Funded Aug 20, 2022

The STEAM kits have been such a source of renewed excitement for the students in my classroom. We used them for STEAM Fridays. What we love about the kits is that students can use their imagination to build what they want OR they can use their critical thinking skills challenge prompts to solve the problems. Most importantly, students are working together to solve these problems!

When I introduced STEAM Activities during our Science block, students were unsure of what to expect. As soon as they saw the materials, my students were eager to start and to get into their teams to explore. Because most of the materials are reusable, students have become more accountable and responsible in making sure that the parts that they are to return are placed back in their original trays so that the next time we use them, they would have all the pieces and would be able to solve the next challenge.

As a bonus, when they are done with the challenges in the kits, students have been able to use the airplane kits to make their own airplanes and keep them. The students have loved creating their own and making modifications to them to see what they can do to have the planes fly further, go straight, "versus" each other to see whose can go further. We will continue with these STEAM activities so that they can do something similar with the cars and the boats.

The STEAM kits and challenge book have been such an amazing addition to our science curriculum. My students have always been excited for Science, but even more so when they get to be engineers and architects and designers and critical thinkers and problem solvers! Thank you so very much, donors!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Reyes
