Sensory play is really part of the scientific process. These little ones need to use their senses and be engaged in meaningful experiences. Even though my students are not able to verbal communicate this is still a great lesson in scientific inquiry. With this sensory table they will be afforded the opportunity to touch and play with water and sand and create masterpieces of their own. Sensory play will not only build on the students science skills but also will build play language social, and dramatic play skills as the students negotiate with one another to share tools, create objects, hopefully begin to develop dialogue.
