  • Save a Life, Stop the Bleed - Part 2

    Funded Oct 30, 2023

Thank you for your generous support of this project. Your contribution was instrumental in providing my students with an invaluable experience, helping them learn and practice essential skills, and exploring medical careers.

My students were so excited to try the "Stop the Bleed" training. Students were extremely engaged in learning this life-saving skill. The program gave them the practical knowledge needed for emergencies, as well as learning about blood physiology, blood pressure, and clotting. Students really enjoyed the Circulatory System STEM challenge by engineering a model heart to act as a pump. They were so proud of their models as they demonstrated them to the class.

Thank you for making a significant difference in the lives of my students!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Reed

  • Diagnosing Medical Conditions

    Funded Nov 8, 2023

Thank you for supporting this project! It's been amazing to see how engaged and enthusiastic the students have been about the medical field, and it's all thanks to you.

Your donation has been instrumental in bringing STEM to life in my classroom. The Diagnosing Diabetes kit has been a hit, and with the human heart modeling kit, the students have been able to get hands-on with their learning. These kits helped my students visualize what they had learned in other activities. With the thermometers, tape, and storage, every student has what they need for their experiments.

Once again, thank you for your incredible generosity. It's made a real difference in my classroom and my students' lives.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Reed

  • Guardians of the Body: The Immune System Strikes Back

    Funded Nov 8, 2023

You are amazing! I am beyond thrilled to express my heartfelt gratitude for your extraordinary contribution to our project! Thanks to your generosity, my students are now equipped with the exciting Virulence card game and Science Take-Out kits. Your support has ignited a spark of enthusiasm for learning among our students, and I cannot thank you enough for your incredible kindness and dedication.

With your donation, my students have enjoyed the opportunity to play the Virulence card game in the class. The Science Take-Out kits are a major win with my students. They have requested "more activities like this." From modeling pathogens to conducting simulated laboratory tests, these resources have helped them grasp complex scientific concepts and fostered a STEM appreciation.

Once again, from the bottom of my heart, thank you for your unwavering support and belief in the power of education to change lives. I appreciate your kindness!”

The clot buster activity, made possible by your support, challenged students to engineering solutions, fostering creativity, and responsibility. They were so proud of their solutions as they demonstrated them to the class.

Thank you for making a significant difference in the lives of my students!”

  • Sensory Exploration, Part 2

    Funded Nov 8, 2023

Thank you so much for helping to provide these awesome, hands-on activities to my students! They always ask when our next lab or hands-on activity will be. Your contribution has allowed me to provide these engaging activities frequently.

"Hand on a Hot Stove" was a complete hit! They told me that the activity made sense and they liked the visualization with the model they created. Students were consistently able to describe the reflex arc and the different types of the neurons after this activity. The texture bags were engaging as well and they had fun making predictions. Optical illusions and the color vision books kept their interest. My students are still asking to see more optical illusions! Thank you for helping to support their curiosity and development of essential skills.

We appreciate you! Thank you for your kindness!”

  • Sensory Exploration

    Funded Oct 13, 2023

Thank you so much for helping my students learn more about the anatomy and physiology of their senses. My students had so much fun learning about and experimenting with their senses!

My students frequently request stations activities as they can work at their own pace and they find them interesting. These materials helped me provide that experience. They had to experiment, problem-solve, think critically, and work with other students cooperatively to complete the activities. They were fascinated with the optical illusions, enjoyed exploring the use of the tuning forks, and engaged in using the 2-point discriminator.

We appreciate your kind generosity! Thank you for helping to engage my students in STEM!”

  • Brains Under the Influence

    Funded Nov 27, 2023

You are amazing! Thank you for your kindness in providing my students with some awesome hands-on learning activities about the brain. My students' excitement was evident as they helped to organize the activities.

My students have really enjoyed our Nervous System unit, which I attribute to the engaging activities and high interest in the topics. Many of my students have expressed an interest in pursuing a career in neurology and psychology. Students really enjoyed the "Bang to the Head" activity, especially the bioengineering activity regarding concussions and a new design for helmets. The other activities were eye-opening for students, especially the addiction activity.

Thank you for helping my students have some amazing and authentic STEM experiences by contributing to this project”

  • Helping Our Community

    Funded Nov 4, 2023

Thank you so much for supporting my students in their efforts to make a positive impact on our community through your generous donation to our food and snacks project! My students were excited to receive and unpack the boxes you contributed.

With your kind donation, my students were able to donate to an organization selected by the students themselves. They chose our food pantry, which plays a crucial role in ensuring that students in need and their families have access to food and snacks, both after school and during weekends. The pantry serves as a valuable resource for those facing food insecurity.

Your contribution has been instrumental in addressing hunger-related challenges, and we truly appreciate your support!”

  • Skele-Kits: Building Bones, Building Minds

    Funded Oct 16, 2023

Thank you for helping my students have the materials they need to learn about the skeletal system!

After learning about bone identification, students did "Skele-Races," where the skeleton models were hung on the wall and students raced to label the bones correctly. Students could either label a bone or fix a mistake. My students absolutely loved this activity and I loved that they were having discussions about the bones. With the Brittle Bones activity, students learned about osteoporosis and its effects. Students made models of the bones of a 15 year old, 30 year old, healthy 70 year old, and a 70 year old with osteoporosis. They were able to articulate why it's important to have a calcium-rich diet when they are young, as well as other risk factors.

Thank you for helping my students learn more about the skeletal system! We appreciate your kind support.”

  • Silly Zombies, Brains (and Other Organs) Are for Students!

    Funded Oct 12, 2023

Thank you so much for helping fulfill my students' request to dissect! They were so excited to open the boxes.

We started with the eye dissection. After our practice with a pickle, students have improved their technique in dissecting. They were fascinated! It was exciting to see how engaged my students were during this dissection. Students created models prior to the dissection, then made edits after the dissection. Their second models showed how much they learned through this hands-on lab. They are excited for future dissections and are looking forward to them.

    We appreciate your kindness!”

My students come from all areas of Baltimore City. Nearly all of my students qualify for free and reduced lunches. My students come to school everyday and they thrive on hands-on activities! You can see their engagement and excitement with art projects, laboratory investigations, online learning, and hands on activities! My students always ask if they will be dissecting anything in my class; this year, I hope to tell them "yes!" Dissection is an engaging and authentic experience that my students are rarely able to do. Incorporating art and technology with other hands on activities and labs will allow my students to make real connections to what they are learning and perhaps inspire them to enter a career in science.
