  • Battle on the Seneca: Lacrosse Sticks for K-2 Team (I)

    Funded Aug 15, 2017

Our lacrosse team is fortunate to have supporters like you! The opportunity to hand out brand new sticks to these young athletes was an experience that I will not soon forget. One boy has been using a stick with a crack in the sidewall. Another boy has a stick that loses head screws at least once during most games. Now that they have new sticks, they can play to their full potential and don't have to worry about any equipment malfunctions on the field. This is our team's first time playing in the fall, and the boys are doing great!

This equipment will be put to good use for multiple seasons. Thank you for supporting lacrosse and our young athletes.”

  • Snacks for Before-School Homework Help

    Funded Jun 24, 2017

Thank you for providing snacks for our before-school homework help program. The buses drop students off at 7:15, and some students arrive even earlier than that. Our early start time doesn't leave students much time for healthy breakfast, if they even have time for breakfast at all. Having breakfast bars, bottles of juice, and other snacks available in my classroom encourages students to attend. Some students come to get help with their writing or homework, and other students stop in because they need a quiet place to read or study. Either way, any student who comes for help before school is offered a healthy snack.

Thank for helping to encourage students to attend our before-school homework help program.”

  • Life Essentials: Backpacks for High School Students

    Funded Mar 31, 2017

Thank you for providing these backpacks for my students. The arrival of these materials was much anticipated by my students. They loved the options in color and style. There was something for everyone. The backpacks were distributed to deserving juniors and seniors who were in need. Some had no backpack at all, and at least two of them had been using old backpacks with broken straps. Thanks to your donation, my students can carry their school books and homework to and from school. We have a lot of students who walk home in the afternoons, even on those rainy days. Now that they have backpacks to keep their materials safe, the books won't get soaked in the rain.”

  • Battle on the Seneca: Lacrosse Helmets for K-2 Team

    Funded Apr 3, 2017

Thank you for helping us to replace some of our outdated lacrosse equipment by providing the boys' K-2 team with two new youth helmets. Our coach was able to get the helmets to deserving families of boys who want to play lacrosse. Those helmets, along with other donations, are helping us spread the love of lacrosse and the benefits of playing a team sport.

Our boys definitely know how to play as a team, as you can see by their perfect record. The team has played three games and won all three! One game was shut-out and our goalie could not have been more proud. My favorite moment of every game is seeing the boys support each other. The second graders remind the new players where to stand, and the goalie reminds his defense to stay sharp. These boys have been making smart choices on the field, and I can't wait to see what the rest of the season has in store of them.

    Thank you for your support.”

  • Battle on the Seneca: Lacrosse Shorts for K-2 Team

    Funded Mar 17, 2017

Lacrosse season has started! We have played three games and won all three. Our second game was a shut-out, and the boys won their third game by five points! They are working as a team and giving their all. They made good passes at the last two games and continue to make smart choices on the field. Thanks to your generous donations, the boys now look like a team. The parents and students are very grateful for the team shorts. Many parents have spoken of the quality of the shorts and how much more professional our team looks.

Thank you for supporting team sports, specifically lacrosse. Our city has a rich history in the sport, and we would like to encourage more young people to get involved. Your donation is helping us to achieve our goal.”

  • Tables and Chairs for a Comfortable Composition Course (Part 1)

    Funded Dec 8, 2016

Thank you for the furniture! The students love the space and comfort of the tables and chairs. I love the way they encourage students to discuss their writing and peer edit their work. Other teachers have come to visit my new classroom set up and are jealous of the furniture. Now, students rush to class because the tables are "first come, first served," and they all want to sit at them. With any luck, I will be able to obtain a few more tables for my classroom before the end of the school year.”

  • Backpacks for Scholars

    Funded Dec 7, 2016

Thank you for providing backpacks for my high school juniors and seniors. Receiving these materials was an exciting day for students. There were many "oohs" and "ahhhs" as they saw me pulling the packs out of the box. Giving these backpacks away was easy because the need here is great. Many students shared stories with me about ripped backpacks or ones so used that the material has worn away. One high school senior told me that the backpack he was using came from a dumpster downtown. Thank you for helping me to help my most underprivileged students.”

  • Kid Inspired: Lacrosse Gear for Scholar Athletes (Part 2)

    Funded Oct 7, 2016

Thank you for providing our scholar athletes with more lacrosse gear! I'm not the lacrosse coach, but the players have been stopping by my classroom all week to check out the new pads, gloves, and sticks. They have already been discussing the new players who can join the team, now that there is more equipment to share. The players are most impressed with the new chest pads and can't wait to wear them at practice and on the field.

Thank you for your commitment to my students, my school, and team sports. It's because of donors like you that more students will reap the benefits of playing lacrosse.”

  • Kid-Inspired: Lacrosse Gear for Scholar Athletes

    Funded Sep 2, 2016

Thank you for your generous donation! Lacrosse season has not officially started yet, but my scholar athletes are looking forward to trying out the new gear. The lacrosse stick sitting in the back of my classroom caused some curious students to ask questions. Many of my students, even those who do not play lacrosse, have tried on the elbow pads and gloves. Perhaps this will inspire them to join the team this year.

Later today, the box of gear and the new lacrosse stick will be delivered to the Varsity lacrosse coach. Once the season starts, he will distribute the items to deserving athletes to use for the season. Hopefully, the promise of new gear will encourage more students to join the team.

Thank you for supporting my students, my school, and team sports.”

  • Kid Inspired: Two Standing Desks to Encourage Healthy Living

    Funded Sep 30, 2016

Thank you, generous donors! Because of your donation, I now have a collection of five standing desks for students to share. Any student who feels as if he or she would benefit from using one of the standing desks that day is welcome to. The desks are most popular later in the day, when students are feeling drained and fatigued. Using one of the standing desks helps them stay alert and attentive in class.

Thank you for supporting my classroom, my school, and public education. Donors like you make my job a little easier every day. Thank you.”

I teach English to 11th and 12th graders at a public high school in Central New York. Approximately 74% of the students in our district receive free or reduced lunches and about 25% speak a language other than English at home. We never have a dull moment in my classroom, and my students always surprise me with their creative thinking and problem-solving skills.
