  • Supplies for Struggling Writers

    Funded Sep 14, 2009

Thank you for your donation to my classroom. We use the writing materials every day. Without the supplies you provided, my students wouldn't have pens and paper to complete their assignments or folders to organize their work. We use the chart paper for our bell work assignments and to practice priceless editing skills. The highlighters have to be their favorite note-taking tool. The students ask to use them every day. We use them to teach note-taking skills and strategies for finding the main idea of a passage.

Without your thoughtful donation, we would be struggling to gather enough supplies to teach the English skills this group of struggling writers needs. We appreciate your kindness.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Marquart

  • MLA All The Way!

    Funded May 5, 2009

Words cannot express how grateful I am that you purchased Spark Charts for my students. The class has been humbled by your kindness, and some have mentioned that it is refreshing to know that adults care about their learning. My students used the charts to complete their final research papers and took the charts with them to use in their college courses.

Again, thank you for your generous donation. I am convinced that having these materials available will make a difference in the lives of my students. ”

  • Self Esteem Bulletin Board

    Funded Dec 2, 2008

Thank you for funding this project. Your thoughtfulness is very much appreciated. My students will benefit from the bulletin board and will be able to display their grades and assignments with pride. We couldn't have done this without you. Thank you for your consideration”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Marquart

  • Maybe it Just Sags Like a Heavy Load.

    Funded Oct 27, 2008

Thank You! Thank You! Thank You! I was so excited to receive the email that my project was funded that I did a little dance and immediately shared the news with the other teachers in my department. I was afraid that maybe we wouldn't receive funding and the students wouldn't be able to read such a great work of literature this year. Your gift is greatly appreciated, and I am certain that my students will gain priceless skills and enjoyment from reading A Raisin in the Sun”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Marquart

I teach English to 11th and 12th graders at a public high school in Central New York. Approximately 74% of the students in our district receive free or reduced lunches and about 25% speak a language other than English at home. We never have a dull moment in my classroom, and my students always surprise me with their creative thinking and problem-solving skills.
