This is my second year teaching biology at Skyline. Thanks to the generosity of various community members and donors, and the hard work of my students last year, my classroom is now home to populations of microbes, aquatic invertebrates, and small fish, which my students routinely work with to learn about biology.
Skyline is also one of the only public high schools where students can directly observe and study a natural ecosystem. Because our campus shares its border with a native forest, my students have the unique opportunity to learn about our local ecosystems firsthand.
My goal this year is for students to work with living things every day, use scientific methods to explore their own questions about natural and man-made living systems, and write scientific reports to share what they learned. Support from donors through Donors Choose makes these hands-on learning experiences possible for my students.
