• Happy Creative Math Workers

  Your generosity has gone a long way. We have increased group work, student-to-student discussion, peer assessment, and peer tutoring by use of mini whiteboards and markers, and erasers you supplied. It is so easy for a student to share their solution and get feedback when they write on the whiteboards and edit if they need to, head off to complete independent work.

  The shakers have created light in our classroom since for the first time we can also focus on social-emotional aspects rather than just instruction.

• Wait for it... It's Back to School Time

  Our academic year began on a very high note because of your contribution:

  * Masks and other cleansing supplies help to keep our surfaces clean, masks ensure that even for brief sneezing everyone feels comfortable.

  * pens ensure every student regardless of economic status has the opportunity to perfect mathematics writing by pen instead of just pencil; as required by New York State.

  *Ink is used for printing all materials that are need for duplication

  * finally coffee provides a vital refresher for as we meet in teams to examine best practices and share resources”

• The New Normal

  One thing we can thank the pandemic for is being clean conscious. Yes, the pandemic had some positives. Desks were now being cleaned before use ( the win; less graffiti and gum, and food in the classroom). We now had to look for mild cleaning materials in the sense that they are safe to use for a prolonged period, without creating cracked hands.

  Cleaning was important and had to cater to desks, keyboards, calculators, and hands.

  My students were quite happy since they felt safe that anything they touched was either personal ( did not have to be returned) or can be cleaned before and after they used it. Parents also weighed in on their happiness that the classroom was equipped for sharing Ipads and calculators while keeping all students safe.

• Winning Again

  Every student, whether or not they were assigned to me, got a snack when they stopped by my room. The response and impact were as expected, overwhelming. The school cafeteria, by design, gave out their food, many students refused it because it has to be cold and it was not appealing. We needed snacks!!!!!!!!! and you provided.

  Along with the hard work and long hours, there were smiles and snacking while they worked. We managed to keep attendance consistent and produced work that met the standards requirements of New York State.

• The Pandemic Engineers

  Thank you so much for your generosity. My students were overwhelmed to learn that they would own a stylus, making their use of Classkick and Nearpod on the Ipad effective. They are able to draw, plot points, highlight, a few things the accessory made possible.

  The three D camera enhanced calculator demonstrations and sharing of student work, saving the pictures for future use or simply saving the pictures so that further discussions can be had by adding them to the Promethean board.

• The Classroom Remotely

  I was so excited when my project was fully funded and, next the receipt of the items. It is a pleasure to show students via 3-D, the calculator functions, the inputting commands to get answers, any work that is produced off the computer.

  In keeping with required distancing, students can sit at their desks, yet have a view as though the teacher was beside them showing the use of the calculator or alternate steps and approaches to solving a problem.

  The dell pen allows for detailed clear handwriting feedback.

  Alisha warms to mathematical conversations quickly since she has the sense of my presence, rather than someone in the classroom she can hear and see but must stay a few feet away.”

• Remotely and Live Ready

  This has been a tough year. But for the short period, we were in the building we had an opportunity to use the monitor. For me the presentation and set up was awesome. I hosted a meet on one screen and watch my students work on another. The students in person were on one screen and had the ability to watch another screen via the monitor and give feedback on the meet via audio or chat.

  The dual-screen also made monitoring students' work and providing feedback while they worked seamlessly a part of classroom routines.

  It was the presentation tool I dreamed of and it certainly delivered well.”

• Tools for Live Classroom

  It is with deep gratitude, I thank you for supporting my live classroom. I use the apple pencil all day, either personally or allowing gloved students to have the feel of writing electronically. Students need far more support than we thought. The notion that they are savvy on smartphones and will be computer savvy or computer excited is false.

  The apple connection has helped to connect the newer model of IPAD and MacPro to other screens providing a seamless presentation where the teacher interacts with students on various platforms using multiple screens while allowing both in-person students and those who are remote equity in access in explorations and discussions”

• Technological Ready Classroom

  The apple pencil has been my new stick of chalk, pen for feedback, and smartboard pen for presenting. The pencil is used for at least 8 hours per day and ten hours per day when I have tutoring. Students are delighted to see their teacher's writing and presentation as it shows the in-person connection even though some students are remote.

  The apple connections allow for connections to other monitors thereby allowing the teacher to see multiple screens when using the Apple products. I could be on a google meet while watching students work in class-kick on another screen. In-person students can watch work and videos on a much larger screen, the Promethean board easing the fatigue on the eyes.”

• The New Classroom

  I thank you for supporting me and my students with the technology needed for a live classroom. A live classroom facilitates both the students who are remote and the students who come into the building for instruction, all at the same time.

  Multi[ple tools and screens are needed so that students in class and students at home can interact with the content being presented and interact with each other.

  Rich discussions and demonstrations have been occurring, students in class show students their work in class and students at home show theirs, and as the teacher, I have my own screen to provide feedback and edit as they work.
