  • Student Incentives

    Funded Mar 23, 2023

Thank you for making this project possible. I cannot wait to reward my students for their hard work and commitment to continued growth. Incentives are fantastic motivators, and I could not have done this without the support of the DonorsChoose community. Grateful is an understatement. Thank you so very much!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. James

  • Premium Online Tools

    Funded Feb 8, 2023

We have benefitted so much from this project already. Students get takeaways with the lesson and their notes/interaction with the lesson immediately following the close of the lesson. This allows them to go back and review what we've covered and solidify what they've learned. The interactive features added to the premium version of PearDeck allow them to draw and interact with the learning in ways they would not be able to do with the free version or with other online learning platforms.

The Grammarly premium has made academic integrity a breeze. Its ease of use and premium features allow us to check for plagiarism, correct errors and improve writing quality.

Thank you for making this possible!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. James

  • Student Engagement Rewards

    Funded Feb 9, 2022

The student engagement rewards a were an amazing motivation tool for my students. It increased attendance to my online lessons and got student to be more active and engaged. They seemed excited about learning and even more excited about the potential of winning lol. Who doesn't want to be rewarded for their efforts and achievements?! This would not have come to life without the DonorsChoose community. I am beyond grateful for the continued support and love shown to my students and educators all over.”

  • Full-Color Notes and Texts

    Funded Feb 9, 2022

Having the option to have color notes and materials has been amazing. From creating notes pages to making game pieces or breakout room materials, this has been great.

The printer has also enabled me to make thoughtful crafts for students like treats and personalized greeting cards as well as labels for supplies to keep things organized and easy to find.

Without the support of the DonorsChoose community, this project would not have come to life. I am more grateful than words could ever truly express.”

  • Treasure Chest for High Schoolers

    Funded Aug 24, 2021

It is such a special gift to be able to make students feel special and help them see that their hard work and dedication do not go unnoticed. Being able to give them rewards, even small rewards is an intricate part of keeping them motivated and maintaining high morale among them. Even the most intrinsically motivated benefit from being rewarded and acknowledged from time to time, and I can do just that because of the items provided by this particular project. They are so surprised when they are rewarded because older students don't get this type of thing often.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. James

  • Teacher Tools

    Funded Jun 14, 2021

The difference that the headset has made for me while teaching, listening, and learning from professional development online has made is tremendously helpful. Being able to have printouts to write on and handouts to organize and turn through makes learning and internalizing things a lot easier. Because of the the generosity shown through this project, I have been able to strengthen my level of expertise and learn new things to implement with my students in the upcoming school year and for years to come!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. James

  • Summer Sprinkles

    Funded Jun 11, 2021

What an amazing way to support and reach out to students than to surprise them with a summer sprinkle. I am beyond grateful for the opportunity to impact them in this way through the generosity of the DonorsChoose community of donors and philanthropists! Sending gift cards to students who need the extra pick is a subtle way to make the day of someone who may have been dealing with some tough times (in many ways, not necessarily financial). From the bottom of our hearts, we extend the loudest, warmest, sincerest thank you ever!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. James

  • Summer PD

    Funded Jun 7, 2021

Digging into some professional development material on a summer morning is a teacher utopia. You have afforded me the opportunity to learn at my own pace, growing as an educator and finding ways to perfect my craft while reflecting on the previous year and planning for the upcoming year.

These books are some phenomenal reads that other educators have had only great things to say about. I am ecstatic to be able to dive in, and I cannot wait to see what strategies and thought process I gain from them! Thank you.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. James

  • Everything in It's Place

    Funded Mar 5, 2021

An organized space to deliver lessons is as important as the content being taught. Thanks to the containers and organization items in this project, I will be able to put all the tools and materials needed for lessons all in its designated place. This will enable smooth transitions and seamless shifts during lessons. Lesson resources can be organized in a way that makes sense and makes finding them for planning the lessons and using them during the lessons flow more smoothly. With all things within reach and organized, I will be able to deliver the best possible lessons.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. James

  • School-Home Balance

    Funded Feb 19, 2021

All work and no play can make the mind grow tired. As important as it is that students are "fed" academically, it is equally important that we look out for and take care of their mental and emotional health. Through making their social-emotional well-being priority, we teach them how to manage and care for themselves on a deeper level which, in turn, enables them to become stronger students and academic achievers. These games will get students away from the screens for a while and hopefully sharing in some fun with their families, adding a little balance to their busy lives.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. James

Many of my students start the year out reading below grade level. They admit to not reading and often say they do not like to read in the beginning of the school year. It is my goal to have each of them end the school year as readers, not because someone told them they had to, but because they enjoy it. Our school is a Title I school with more than 90% of our students classified as economically disadvantaged. Many of my students come to me with a sense of apathy formed from the lack of experiences of academic success in the past. We work all year to learn to grow from our failures and use them to get a step closer to success. A big part of this process is growing as readers.
