Science for Our Future

Funded Apr 15, 2016

Dear Donors,

My class and I are very thankful for your donations to help us expand our knowledge of science. We started using the materials at the end of the previous school year to test water sources found in our school, our local pond, and our homes. We tested the water for nitrates, phosphates, dissolved oxygen, and turbidity. The kits provided the students with materials and directions on how to conduct the experiments. The students were able to follow the step by step directions to complete their tasks and feel confident about their lab safety and technical skills.

When I first opened the package for the students had smiles stretching from ear to ear. They were delighted to know that they had community members who were willing help them explore topics in science. The students were definitely excited, thankful, and curious to handle the materials.

As the weather shifts to bring in the cold and the snow, we will sample our local pond to determine if the levels of phosphates, nitrates, and dissolved oxygen change with the seasons. This will be a year-long project and it should help students with time management, organization, and data gathering.”

With gratitude,

Mr. Singh
