A majority of my students do not get to venture out and explore things in a safe environment. They are not able to go to parks on a regular basis. Their view on a park is a playground at their apartment complex where they have to worry about gang activity surrounding them. They live in a low poverty and high violence area. I love their spirits when they come to school. When they walk through the doors they know they are in a safe place and are free to expand their minds to new things. My students are eager to learn new things always. They enjoy hands on activities that keep their minds thinking on a higher level.
