Showing work and learning from mistakes are two of the most important elements of my classroom. I try to get students to recognize that the best way for them to learn is to see where they went wrong the first time. Flexible seating like the padded cushions, along with other new materials will help my students achieve these two goals. The double-sided whiteboard will allow my students more room to show their work and to learn from each other. Currently, I have whiteboard space in my classroom, but I constantly have to erase work to make room for more. I also have individual whiteboards for the students, but it is hard for them to share their work with others on these. The addition of a movable, double sided whiteboard will add so much potential to my classroom! My students would be able to have better access to problems throughout the class period. The whiteboard erasers and expo markers will be used with the student whiteboards that I already have in my classroom. In addition, the baskets will hold all of their supplies that they need to be successful in math. To better utilize the supplies and to create the most engaging classroom environment, my students also need comfortable seating. They love to move around the classroom and they currently just sit on the floor to work. I would like to create an area for them to sit that surrounds the new whiteboard. The ottoman will act as both additional seating and a storage for the padded cushions when they are not in use.
