When traditional schools don't work for our kids, they come here. For many this is the first chance they've had to truly explore the wonders of science with their own hands. We are an extremely diverse school, ethnically, socioeconomically, and in terms of learning styles and abilities. Many of our kids come from incredibly difficult home situations, and all have left traditional schools for one reason or another. To help them rediscover the joys of learning, our classes are built on our kids' own curiosity. In science this means teaching kids to hone their natural curiosity into rigorous scientific questions. Our kids actually become young scientists, learning to design experiments and seeing how science can enrich their lives. And when our kids feel valued as whole people, and pushed to discover the best version of themselves, they thrive.
