My students are working against all odds to improve their reading and writing skills, while exposing them to using technology on a daily basis. My goal for the end of their year is to make them better readers, thinkers, and writers. The biggest challenge I deal with is working in a community where education is not a priority. My students live in a small community. They come from low socioeconomic backgrounds where education is not a focus at home. My school is a Headstart through 5th grade school with less than 800 students. We are within yards of the Mississippi River and the Gulf of Mexico.
