N.Y. Needs Help To Bring The Arts Back Into The Classroom
Funded Nov 27, 2009We want to thank each and every one of you for donating to this wonderful project. My students did not have an art library, due to the fact that this is a brand new program in my school. I love teaching them art and love their excitement, but there's only so much you can do with so little materials. I used to borrow books from the library, to teach them about art history. Thanks to all of you, we now have our own sets of art books in our classroom. You can tell by the photos I've enclosed that the students are thrilled. They love all of the books. We also asked for a man and woman manikin, and my students will have a great time drawing from them. I'm teaching them gesture drawing, so this came at a perfect time. We thank all of you so much for making our classroom into an art studio.”
With gratitude,

N.Y. Art Teacher Brings Blueprints Of The Arts To Curriculum
Funded Nov 10, 2009My students received the art supplies and were very excited. We had so little supplies due to all the funding cuts, so this was such a thrill for them. When the box arrived, it was like Christmas to them. We were getting presents, and we already knew we would love them
The first thing we looked at was the horse manikin. It was really beautiful and they all touched the wood and the horse's tail, which was made from real horse hair. Today they started sketching her, and they named her "Luna".
We also watched a DVD today. It was the one with the illusions, and they had so much fun trying to create one. Next week we are going to look through the project book, and begin making collages. We loved all the different papers and shapes that came in the kit.
We want to thank you so much for giving us materials to work with. It means so much to my students and they want you to know this.Without your help this would not have been possible. We realize how lucky we are that you picked us. Thank you so much!”
With gratitude,
Mrs. DeCrescenzo

Funded Jun 9, 2009My class wants to thank you again for the upper grade leveled library and the allowance game that you sent us. The books are awesome and they came in nice yellow bins that gave instructions on how to level them. Within ten minutes all my books were leveled with a sticker. The students all helped me level them and place the books in a bin. They were so proud of themselves when they finished and couldn't wait to reach for a new book.
The allowance game is so much fun. It's a grea5t way for them to grasp the concept of money, and they had a great time playing it. The only way I could get them to stop and clean up was to say we'd play it again tomorrow.
We wrote out our thank you cards today and you should be getting them shortly. We realize how fortunate we are to have gotten these supplies are are very grateful. It's people like you that help my class excel.”

Funded Jul 1, 2009My class would like to thank you again for the wonderful resources we received. They are having such fun with the Readers' Theater scripts, and use puppets to act out the scene. It's such a wonderful way to get them to read, as well as overcome their shyness.
The comprehension resources are so helpful as well as the At-My-Desk Reading kit. My students love them. There are so many activities and games to play to help them with their reading and writing skills.
It's so important in our classrooms for the students to reach for activities and bring them back to their desk. These resources are amazing and the children are blown away by them. We can't express our gratitude enough. It's people like you that make my students excel in the classroom.”

Warm Hearted Integrated Co-Teaching Class In New York
Funded Jun 3, 2009My class wants to thank you again for the reading and writing center. We received it today and the children were so happy having a place to put all their things. It's such a nice piece of furniture, and it's the first piece in our room that was not used, but new. So it's very exciting.
There is a compartment for their books and pencils as well as a spot to keep their portfolio work. The students are very aware of how important it is not to lose their valuable papers that they worked on. This will be the perfect aid to help them get organized and to stay that way.
It's people like you that help make my class excel. I don't know what we'd do without you. Today the students wrote out their thank you notes. You should be receiving them very soon. Thank you so much for your help and generosity.”

Mrs. DeCrescenzo

Funded Feb 27, 2009My class thanks you very much for your generous donation. It's in an integrated setting with a wide variety of learners at different stages. The children love sitting in the rocking chair and taking turns reading to each other. They also love when I sit in the chair, sitting around me on the floor incaptured as they learn. The globe is a great visual and tactile way for them to discover the world around them.
What a great opportunity you have provided my classroom with your generosity. I am the special education teacher, and I work with a general education teacher where we collaborately teach twenty six students the fourth grade curriculum. We have multiple intelligences, so we often need to be extremely creative to capture them. The weekly readers should be arriving soon, and my students are very excited .
Your generosity will aid them in becoming more aware of the world around them and another tool in becoming educated. You have provided a great opportunity for my classroom and students. This is our very first funded project and we thank you so very much!
