  • Third Graders Seek Art Materials to Benefit the Environment

    Funded Apr 17, 2010

My students and I want to thank you for funding our Furry Vengence project. We just received our supplies and can't wait to begin our project. We now have paint brushes, so we can begin to make some animal paintings showing them in their natural habitats. We watched the Dvd about making books, and want to make an animal journal. My students will make tessellations of animals as well.

We'd like to make some drawing and sketches, so the new pencils will be a great help. We are also planning a trip to see the movie to get some ideas. We love our animals and want to do our part to spread the word. Thank you so much for helping us do that.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. DeCrescenzo

This classroom project was brought to life by Furry Vengeance and 4 other donors.
  • How Do You Teach Painting To Art Students With Fingerpaints?

    Funded Mar 24, 2010

We want to thank you so much for funding our project. We only had fingerpaints in our art department and the students are doing a unit on painting. They will now be able to use tempera paints to paint a picture such as Vincent van Gogh and his Sunflowers. We are learning all different painting techniques such as impasto, a heavy layer of paint applied to a picture. I can now show them through the painting display cards, my modeling of the lesson using an impasto paint brush and the DVDs. We really appreciate that you funded our project because we really want to paint pictures. Thank you so much!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. DeCrescenzo

  • "N.Y. Art Teacher Needs Printing Supplies For Blueprints"

    Funded Mar 24, 2010

We want to thank you all so very much for funding this project and getting us the ink and brayer's that we needed. We are now able to learn how to print and make beautiful pictures. My students have already begun to try it and are in the process of making building just like Romare Bearden did. They love rolling the brayer's into the ink and seeing the different results when they change the color of the ink or paper.

We can't thank you enough for your generosity. My art students are very grateful to be able to experience the art of printing through your donations.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. DeCrescenzo

  • "New York Art Teacher Needs To Capture Precious Moments"

    Funded Mar 7, 2010

Today we received the camera and printer in our art room. We were very excited, because the delivery came fast. We are planning to do portraits, and are getting ready to take pictures of ourselves to tape along side of our desks. We are now able to not only snap the picture, but print it immediately so that we can get started. Having a picture of our face placed along side of the picture we are sketching, is an enormous help. We feel very fortunate that you read our proposal and picked our project to be funded. We want you to know how much we truly appreciate your generosity and your interest in the arts. Thank you all so much!”

    Mrs. DeCrescenzo

  • "Green Is The New Color Of Art" Recycle And Reuse!!!

    Funded Dec 7, 2009

We received our art materials today and are very excited. We can't wait to begin writing cards and using watercolor pencils that turn into paints when added to water. My students are eager to make cards for the elderly population that reside in our community. They want to show how they respect them and how much they care about them. They realize that making someone a card can cheer a person up, and how many elderly people are all alone in this world. The cards are made of recyclable paper, and this way we are saving the Earth as well. We really appreciate that you funded our project. Thank you so much Disney Planet Challenge!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. DeCrescenzo

  • New York Traveling Art Teacher With Great Vision

    Funded Dec 14, 2009

My art classes and I want to thank you so much for funding this project. It's really hard to get all the art materials from room to room, and you have now made life so much easier. By having this cart I can have the supplies organized and the art projects can be started sooner. It's a great cart and it even has a place to write a teaching point on it. I love the easel and the students enjoy when I draw on it. We're expecting a table top easel for drawing and painting to be delivered any day, and can't wait. We appreciate your generosity and the way you care. Thank you a hundred times over!!!”

  • An Imagination Station Needed, To Express The Way We Feel

    Funded Jan 14, 2010

We want to express our heartfelt gratitude to our generous donors for funding this project. We follow the Blueprints for the Arts, and it consists of theater as well as art making. My students are so into making puppets, and using them, and have being dying to put on a puppet show. We plan on doing this in our auditorium for the whole school to see. We received the happy puppets and puppet rack already, and they're better then we had envisioned. The puppet theater has been ordered and is on the way. We are waiting for it so that we can take photos for you to see. You have made my art classes very happy, as well as my whole school. We can't thank you enough for helping us!”

  • "Fun with Felt, Foam and Feathers"

    Funded Jan 13, 2010

We want to thank you so much for funding this project. We received our materials and are planning to make puppets out of the felt and googly eyes. My students had so much fun going through the boxes, as you can see in our photos. We don't know how to show our appreciation in words to you, our very generous donors. I hope that by looking at my students faces, you will be able to see what you have given to our children. They love art so much and can't wait to do their projects. We will be putting on some puppet shows, and now we can get started. Our heartfelt thanks goes out to you!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. DeCrescenzo

  • "Creative, Crafty, Colorful and Cute Collages" for Art Class

    Funded Jan 5, 2010

We received our collage resources today and were delighted. Everything was so nice, and there was so many materials to choose from. The students didn't know what to grab first. The kits had everything you could ever want, and the boards were so nice. You could choose from a shape of a person, or just a plain shape. It even came with the glue. The colored tapes were really nice because you could use them as well in the collage. We really appreciate that you funded this project and can't find words good enough to thank you. My classes and I send you out a heartfelt thank you. We would never be able to create these wonderful things without the generosity of our donors. Thank you so very much!!!”

    With gratitude,

Making self portraits are part of the art curriculum, and we can't thank you enough for your generosity. This is the first year my students are having this program and they are really applying their talents. We thank every one of our donors from the bottoms of our heart. As soon as the portraits are finished we will show you our work. Photos will be coming soon. Thank you so very much!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. DeCrescenzo

I am the special education teacher at my school. I teach pre-k through fifth grade students (general education and special education mix) using a lot of art to connect with the common core standards for all subjects. I try to connect using STEAM whenever possible. My students love to learn by doing creative projects by using their hands. I feel it helps them retain the information much better when it's hands on. I believe that students that begin with a love for school, passion in the classroom, and a great foundation to learn, will have the best success as they move up the ladder in life.
