Terrific Tablets!
Funded Mar 27, 2018The tablet served the students greatly! We were able to use it for Informational Writing unit.
Students' task was to choose a topic to write about, and use various resources such as books and websites to gather data. With the tablet, each student was able to access the internet and learn how to search for information. They used websites like pebblego and brainpop to gather information about their topic. They were engaged THROUGHOUT the writing process, and they were really excited about learning new things, and writing about them! Writing never looked so exciting!!”

Developing Professionally!
Funded Dec 10, 2017Since receiving the professional texts about Guided Reading, Reading Assessments, and Phonics, I have grown so much professionally. They were extremely helpful! The Guided Reading professional text gave me great ideas for guided reading lessons and possible grouping of my students. The Literacy playbook taught me how to use a variety of assessments to collect meaningful data, and then turn it into goals for my students. Since then, I have learned so much about my students and their needs in Reading. This will help me tailor my instruction based on their needs. Thank you SO much for supporting my professional development!”

Mary Had a Little Lamb
Funded Sep 21, 2017The children were so excited to receive the recorders! Their eyes lit up, and they couldn't wait to hold their very own instrument. Many have said that they've never played an instrument before! I told them that we would practice weekly, and eventually perform on stage for their assembly. They were enthused by the news!
The recorders are motivating them to keep learning, and is creating a fresh sense of unity in our classroom. Our next step is to provide each student with recorder books, so that they can practice at home and show their parents how much they've learn.”

Our Mighty Classroom Library
Funded Jan 27, 2015The Mighty Mustard Seeds were ecstatic to receive the new books that you donated! They were so eager to read through the series/box sets. Many of them were foreign to these great reads/series like Boxcar Children, Magic Tree House and Mercy Watson. However, after reading a book from one of the series, they expressed their eagerness to read more! They were impressed and entertained by the different type of stories/plots/characters from these books.
They continue to use the books for Independent Reading and Buddy Reading. During Independent Reading, they are able to apply reading strategies and skills they learn in our Read Aloud lessons.
This project enabled me to reorganize and restructure our classroom library. In response, the students enjoy and are eager to visit our classroom library. It has been an enriching experience for our class to have easily accessible resources. Students are constantly making references and connections from their reading.
Thank you so much for your donation! Your generosity has made a great impact!!”
