  • Learning at Home

    Funded Aug 11, 2020

My students were delighted to have received the important school supplies! They were even more excited to start school this school year. Receiving the school supplies gave them confidence and comfort to know that in the midst of challenges, they are still able to learn in a school community.

The math tools we used for building number sense was helpful. Because there are restrictions for sharing tools, I was afraid that I was not able to give my students access to tools. However I had enough math ten frames for each student to keep for themselves.

Ten frames are useful for building a solid foundation in number sense. We will continue to use these frames throughout the school year when learning addition and subtraction strategies.”

For instance, the extra monitor helped me to see how my students would respond when I shared content. It made it easier for me to teach confidently and allowed me to focus on targeting instruction.

In addition, the laptop stand made it easy for my students to see me comfortably. Because I was able to align the stand with the additional monitor, it made it easy for me to switch my attention between monitorss

  • Starting School on Point!

    Funded Aug 28, 2018

The supplies we received such as primary journals/notebooks, binder clips, and pencil boxes have really helped in preparing our first graders for school! We used the binder clips to mount writing assignments. This made a huge impact as the children saw their work and were proud to see them. We praised them and recognized them for their work. The pencil boxes helped to organize their pencils, glue sticks, crayons, dry eraser, erasers and markers. Teaching them to organize in the very beginning of the school year has been a huge benefit to their learning. They are more independent because of it. The primary notebooks are developmentally appropriate, and really supports their writing. We utilize them as reading response notebook, in which they respond in writing after reading a book. It is a collection of thoughts and response to the books we are reading in class. Thank you for your generosity and your investment in our future!”

Because they're confidence in penmanship has grown, their confidence in Writing and elaborating has also increased. This program is getting them ready for the second grade! Funded Dec 4, 2018

The picture books that are aligned with Jennifer Serravallo's professional text, Reading Strategies is a wonderful supplement to our Reading Lessons. They were thoughtfully selected, and go perfectly with important lesson plans. In addition, the students also enjoy reading them during Independent Reading. In addition to reading, students have been enjoying their Choice Time even more since receiving the KEVA planks. It has been a pleasure watching them build and discover different things they can make. We are so grateful for your generosity and your desire to invest in our future.”
