Dissection Trays
Funded Apr 12, 2024HOORAY!
What do Gary, Nicole, Dawn K., Jani, KD, Ms. HOrne, Dawn S., Karla, Nancy, and myself have in common? They donated to this project to bring it to life! THANK YOU ALL!
Our dissection trays are very old. As old as the school. It was totally time to replace our trays that had missing wax, embedded body parts from previous dissections, and some even covered in mold and mildew. Since timing is everything, and school is nearly over for the semester and school year, I wanted to make sure YOU, our very generous donors, got thanked in a timely matter. I have taken a few pics of the trays as they arrived, where I stored them, and a photo op with a student who is anxious to use them as we get involved with learning in Marine Science class.
Again, thank you so much.”

A Grape Vine Arbor
Funded May 1, 2024Thank you so much for supporting this project to build a grapevine arbor. Our department recently decided to move the chicken coop and decided that this patch of land, pre-fertilized mind you, would make an excellent place to put a grapevine arbor. Our science class partnered with the department and we were thrilled to get the grape vines to plant. we decided that a special request project to purchase the vines from a local garden center would be the best option. The vines we selected were quite healthy, and we are excited to have them in the ground and ready to water and take care of. As a teacher, I love the partnership with DonorsChoose! I cannot imagine teaching without having this wonderful resource. Thank you for all you do for my class, our school and for all kids everywhere.”

Funded May 8, 2024Thank you, thank you, thank you! I appreciate you Dawn, Nancy, an anonymous donor, and GM. Your generosity combined to fund two more nice stools/chairs for our lab. My students love, I mean, really love, these chairs. I don't have assigned seats so when they come into my classroom, they run to sit at one of these. The chairs are on rollers, and they can adjust in height. It makes them very convenient to be used in my classroom! Once again, thank you so much for supporting my project, my students, my classroom and myself.”

Funded May 9, 2024How exciting! It is always exciting to see that a project has been funded. And this one held a little bit more excitement. The project was funded during teacher appreciation week. I was anticipating looking forward to double donations! I had attempted to rally my usual crowd of family and friends into making a donation but then... Carolina Biological swooped in and funded this project. I can't thank you enough. Not ironically, I had ordered the thermometers from this company. They have the best quality science equipment for teachers. Again, thank you so much.”

Funded Dec 30, 2023Thank you for funding this project to procure presentation boards. At the inception of this project, I intended to allow my marine science students to do projects on marine mammals. However, time got away from us and we did not even get to that part of the curriculum. Our next roadblock in this project was the fact that our school ran out of color printer ink then the color printer went down. My students did not want to do a presentation without access to color printers. At any rate, we are now using the presentation boards to do a river basin project.
Even though we are late in sharing our gratitude, please please know that we are forever thankful for the privilege of posting projects! I cannot imagine teaching without the use of this wonderful website.”

Let's Play Kahoot!
Funded Mar 31, 2024Thank you for your support in funding this project, "Let's Play Kahoot!". This platform offers a fun, interactive way to teach, learn, and even assess information. The free version is fine, but it is annoying with ads, which sometimes get erroneously clicked. This causes undue frustration for my students and me.
With the Kahoot premier platform, the program runs seamlessly. Other features are also a part of the premier package, like student tracking, special assignments, access to a visual library, AI assistance, and more. Again, thank you.”

What's in Our Air!?
Funded Mar 11, 2024Thank you for funding, digital microscopes for my project. What's in the Air? The project quickly posted and quickly funded and even more remarkable. The microscopes arrived in less than two days. DonorsChoose is amazing.
My students were totally enthralled by the digital scope. We looked at petri dishes that we had smeared with Vaseline, in hopes of trapping particulate matter from the air. We had placed these all over the building. Only one student had ever used a digital microscope. So they had the best time looking at their skin, their hair, the fibers in their jeans, just about everything. Oh, and they did enjoy looking at the particular matter that the petri dishes had collected. We discovered that there is a lot of dust, fibers, hair in the air, and even insects had crawled into the petri dish.
I am amazed at how wonderful this platform is. Thank you for continuing to make my teaching job so much easier.”

A Stool With a Back - 2
Funded Dec 31, 2023Wow! How awesome it is to have these two new very comfortable stools. I am excited to be able to offer my students a place to sit at a lab section that is much more suitable for their larger bodies. Having to perch on a wooden stool, for the entirety of a class is a lot to ask for some of these students.
I was so excited about this flexible seating that I've also created a third project to add a few more stools to our classroom. None of this would be possible though if it weren't for donors like you. Thank you so much; we are very grateful and honored that you chose our classroom to support.”

A Stool With A Back
Funded Dec 26, 2023Woo hoo! That's about what I said when I saw that this project had funded. I am finally in a lab situation at my school. I have spent almost 16 years wandering around as a science teacher. We had a huge construction project and completed a new classroom building. Now I have a science lab, and with increased enrollment in our district, I don't have enough seating.I am so thrilled to be able to offer my students a comfortable place to sit as they work at a lab station rather than at a hard backless wooden stool. The teens often rush in to be able to claim a spot with one of these stools. I created a second project which also funded and we now have four of them. I have already decided that I need a few more.
Thank you for helping me fund this project, Judy. You're the best! It truly was Christmas in my classroom.”

Clean New Hoodies
Funded Jan 9, 2024Wow! How awesome it is to be able to give our students brand-new hoodies. All because of you!
It doesn't get very cold here in Carteret County but when it does, our students are ill-prepared. Sometimes they go to the office and get an unclaimed, lost and found item. But I thought having a brand new clean hoodie for them would be super nice. Because of the nature of the project, I did not take their specific picture, but I did take pictures of unboxing them and inspecting them to ensure they were what I ordered. The student services counselors are going to be responsible for handing them out so I took a picture of a guidance counselor holding one of them.
Thank you again. Our sweet students are most appreciative of the assistance, as I am. DonorsChoose is absolutely the best!”
