  • We Need Soccer Boys Cleats after Years of COVID!

    Funded Sep 23, 2021

In reflection of this year, I can confidently say that getting these cleats for students as a result of your kindness and generosity was one of the leading factors in student wellness at our school in the last two years! Knowing that families would not have to locate or purchase cleats for their child to play soccer resulted in over a third of our ENTIRE middle school coming out to play for the team....more than any other middle school in the city (which all have populations over 4 times the size of our school)!!! You gave that to them and they will never forget it!

Unknown to us at the time, but it was the only sport allowed this year due to COVID restrictions...which makes your donations even more meaningful to the middle school students, their families and to the school.

Watching the kids get out after 2 years at home to run, play, learn, compete, condition and socialize was the highlight of my year as an educator and is often talked about by ALL the students who were on the receiving end of your generosity.

We can not thank you enough for giving so many this memorable opportunity!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Shea

  • Teens Creating Holiday Cheer for Local Nursing Home During COVID

    Funded Nov 18, 2020

I apologize in my delayed response. Please know it is no reflection of my deep appreciation for all you do for our students, our classroom, myself and for this project...the greater community! It was tricky getting all the different supplies to 30 homes across the city so that students could make ornaments for isolated nursing home members, but your gratitude and kindness in getting our students the materials lit a fire in other community and school members and we got it done! Because of you our students were able to get a surprise visit from teachers with fun art supplies at their door, and were overjoyed to work in small groups virtually to socialize and create! Further more they felt so great to spread that kindness to others feeling alone during an unprecedented COVID time! Again, all you do to support our class is always remembered an cherished and will be something these student grow to pass on to others! Thank you!”

  • Noise Cancelling Headphones/Mics to Assist Teens w/ Focus & Attention

    Funded Dec 1, 2020

Thank you from the bottom of my heart! The impact of these special, Sony noise cancelling headphones has gone far behind what we originally expected! Your generosity not only helped students thrive while learning at home during the COVID lockdown, but continued into hyper learning and then into a full return this year! Countless students and parents have expressed their gratitude for such an essential learning tool that allowed their children to stay focused, have the same quality headphones as all other students, and gave them quiet confidence in busy homes during unprecedented times. The headphones where such great quality that they are all still using them today!! Your kindness, generosity and thoughtfulness during an unsure and unexpected time in their adolescent lives will never be forgotten! Thank you again!!”

  • Wellness for 6th-8th Students After a Year of Virtual Learning!

    Funded Mar 25, 2021

You are amazing! Your generosity and thoughtfulness provided more than just wellness and movement to our students who returned during the hybird learning phase, it brought students together with laughter and fun!

The excitement on these students faces, not only to get these items provided by strangers who "didn't even know them", but to go out and play with other students was truly priceless. This will always be a unprecedent time in their lives that they'll look back on for life and you will be a part of that fun and excitement they felt when returning to school in very unsure times!

We are forever grateful of you and your kind acts! Thank you!”

  • Hands-On, Remedial Literacy Tools For Transitioning 6th Grade Students

    Funded Aug 26, 2020

These hand on materials have made such a difference for some of our students who needed it most during the time when schools closed there doors and moved to the virtual world!

Students who usually got small group extra supports due to being behind grade level or due to language barriers/needs quickly lost those supports when we moved online. The hands on literacy kit allowed me to identify the student needs, create mini kits based on students need and bring them right to students doors so they didn't fall further behind.

The kits even had a self correcting feature so students could self correct and involve families in their supports!

My students and I are so grateful for your giving spirits and heart! You are appreciated!”

  • Basic Classroom Needs for Full Return From Covid

    Funded Aug 19, 2021

I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart! After a year of many trial, successes, challenges, and changes I am so grateful that your generosity has made it possible to bring some normalcy back to my students with these basic classroom needs.

Your donation has not only boosted confidence in the classroom, because its given all students many of the every day needs for the class it has also helped families. Your generosity lessened the burden on families who may have experiencing difficulty providing items their students needed as the processed/prepared for a new transition back to school after 2 years of COVID.

In middle school confidence and a safe learning environment can and will make such a HUGE difference in students behavior and academics, and your provided that!

All the humans that provided to our class are always in my heart and I'm truly grateful for all you do!”

  • Young Adults Learning about Rights, Activism, Race & Equality- Distance

    Funded Jul 22, 2020

Your donation was so important and so appreciated. The materials were used for some students who were in person and offered/given to students that were at home as well. It was so amazing to get students back in the classroom and see them so interested in, and invested in learning about privilege, racism, oppression and the systematic problems in our country and in our world. It also inspired them to spring into action and have the most meaningful conversations, that were so hard for many, but so necessary.

I'm also so excited to share that your generous donations did not just affect the lives of our students, but over our time at home during the pandemic I joined the district curriculum writing team to rewrite a district wide curriculum that was more equitable and diverse. I used the feedback from students and texts you helped us acquire to drive my work on that team. That curriculum was rolled out this summer and is now implemented across the district! So in reality your donations touched the whole community! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Shea

  • Help Students Get the Scoop with Scholastic Scope Magazines!

    Funded Sep 27, 2020

Your amazing support is helping my middle school students read high-interest, non-fiction and fiction texts and engage with standards based learning tasks. The best part about the digital and paper copies of the Scope magazines each month is that the students have fun while interacting with them! Being able to provide students who are learning from home something engaging, exciting and fun has been such a relief to me with all they are going through. The Scope Magazines articles and activities have both visuals, and audio versions of the text that support students of all levels without reading something different than the kids "on-level". This is so helpful in the students' social, emotional health. Your generosity and kindness are so appreciated!!! Your kindness is not only supporting our students academics but their overall wellness too! Thank you again from the bottom of my heart!”

  • Computer Ink Needed for Distance Learning Materials Due to Covid-19

    Funded May 5, 2020

The impact of having these materials was unimaginable! Many 8th grade students were able to pass the term and move onto high school specifically because of your kindness.

The computer ink was used to print out missing materials for students who were dealing with unprecedented times and trauma. Some students had family members who were ill, some could not connect to the internet, some students just work better on paper, many were just plain overwhelmed in general.

Your gratitude allowed me to print out the materials students needed and drive it to their homes so they could complete it and turn it in. This helped them pass the term and made them feel so loved and cared for. Again, thank you from the bottom of my heart!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Shea

My students need books to fill our classroom library. Students will be able to borrow the books from our classroom library. They will read the books during independent reading and at home. Having a variety of material to read in the classroom will allow students the opportunity to understand and connect to others. Classroom lessons will teach students the strategies and skills to navigate through these books thinking deeply about what they are reading and what connections these texts give them with the world. The books for our classroom library will help my current students and students for years to come as they will be a part of our classroom library.
