  • Boo! We're Reading with Speakaboos!

    Funded Apr 9, 2014

Thank you so much for your donations to my classroom. My students are LOVING using speakaboos in the classroom. This has taken over my listening center and my students are loving watching, listening and reading the stories. When you watch them at this center, you can see how independent they feel while they are using it! They get to pick what they are reading and this excites them.

My higher level learners are using speakaboos as a jumping off point for writing. They are reading the stories and then they are writing in their personal blogs why someone else should read/watch that specific story. It is really exciting! Thank for helping my students become empowered to create their own learning!”

  • Fueling Our Technology Dreams

    Funded Dec 19, 2013

Thank you so much for your donation to our project. My students were so excited to have another tablet to add to our classroom collection. Before this donation we had 2 to share between 6 students, which made for some not so happy third wheels. Now I am able to partner the students up to share the tablets. We have been able to use the tablets to play educational games to help practice difficult algebra skills with my seventh grader. My fourth graders has also been using the tablet to look up videos and help them research individuals for the Black History Month Projects. My fifth graders enjoy using the tablets to help them look up their weekly vocabulary words. I also have been able to put an app on the tablet that reads the our current novel to my one student who is far below reading level. The tablet has helped him be able to keep up with his peers. Again, thank you so much for your donation. The tablet has become a wonderful resource for my students and I can see them continuing to benefit from it for quite some time.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Simon

  • Tag... You're A Reader!!

    Funded Nov 28, 2012

Thank You so much for your donations towards new tag reader books for my first graders and our classroom. The students have started using them and they love them! Some of the books have games and interactivie activites for the students to learn through and they love figuring out the new games. The books are also on many different levels so they are differentiated for my students varying ability levels. I love that most of the books work on specific skills, so I can have students work on skills that they might need extra help on.

Thank you again for helping me create a rich, hands on learning environment for my first graders.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Simon

  • First Grade Rockin' Readers

    Funded Sep 22, 2010

Thank you very much for bringing more books into my classroom! My students this year are very eager to read and so are always looking for new books to read. Last year, we had to keep sharing books and there were not that many books for my emerging readers to pick from. With your help, I have been able to give my students more books to read and so, more ways to practice their reading skills.

They are very excited to pick new books and be able to read the new and exciting books that are in the library. My emerging readers are starting to understand the fundamentals of reading! My class and I thank you for your generous donation!

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Simon

  • First Graders Keeping Things Clean!

    Funded Sep 6, 2012

Thank you for your very generous donations to my classroom! Your donations have helped my first graders become organized, independent readers whom are learning how to take care of their supplies!

My students already love readers workshop and now with the use of new clean (not broken) readers workshop "book bags" they are even more excited and proud of themselves! I am so grateful for these book bags, as the old ones we had were falling apart and the students weren't as willing to take care of their own books if the bags weren't in good shape.

Once again, thank you so much for your donations and for making my classroom the best it can be.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Simon

  • First Grade Mathematicians At Work!

    Funded Aug 6, 2010

My class and I would like to thank you for your generous mathematical donation to our classroom. The manipulative's that we have gained have helped my students be able to have more hands on experiences with math concepts.

When we have learned about adding and subtracting the students were able to use the double sided counters to help them count out their answers. When we learn about 3-d shapes the students will be able to touch the shapes to count the sides and corners instead of just seeing the shape on a piece of paper and having to guess. The base ten blocks will help my students be able to have hands on experiences with place value instead of just having to see paper strips.

Thank you so much for giving my students more hands on experiences and enriching their learning experiences.

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Simon

  • Projecting Our Ideas!

    Funded Aug 4, 2010

My class and I would like to thank you very much for the projector! It has made our classroom come alive in so many ways! The students are able to learn at a much deeper level by using this piece of technology.

With the use of the projector I have been able to show my students videos and different websites to help them understand concepts better. I have been able to add pictures to our morning journal so that my students that are not fluent readers yet can still be successful with their work.

The students have been able to really get excited about social studies and science by watching videos, and seeing real life examples of the things we are working on. Thank you again for helping my students become technology savvy learners!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Simon

  • Leaping into Listening!

    Funded Oct 25, 2012

Thank you so much for your generous donations towards my project to help my students. The headphones are perfect! They are just big enough that the students can hold them, not break them and put them over their ears, but they are not to big. Also, the cords are long enough that the students can use them at the computer center without feeling like they can't move.

These headphones have helped my students be able to enjoy the listening tag reader center and the computer center again, which is helping to supplement their learning, and make them very excited about books and reading, and math!

Thank you again for your very generous donation!”

    With gratitude,

  • Super Stamping Students!

    Funded Oct 8, 2012

Thank you so much for your very generous donations towards my project for my students. As you can see in the pictures, my students LOVE the spelling center and the fact that they can stamp all of their spelling words each week. The stamps have let my students work independently at this center (while still working with a partner), without having to share every supply and letter (which used to cause a lot of fighting).

We are getting ready to start our place value unit in math, and I am very excited to introduce the place value stamps to the students to help them organize their tens and ones, break numbers apart and build numbers.

Once again, thank you for making my classroom a very hands on interactive classroom!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Simon

  • It's A Simple Bare Necessity!

    Funded Jan 16, 2010

Thank you very much for your very generous donations! The students in my class and as well as my well-used books greatly appreciate the book bags that have been donated. The bags are helping keep my books in very good condition which will help students in the future be able to read these books as well.

The students eagerly look forward to reader's workshop every day because they have bright red bags that hold "THEIR" books. They really have a huge sense of pride about their books and their reading time and they did not have as big of a sense of pride before we had these bags. The bags excite them and remind them that they want to and CAN read. All of my students are becoming successful readers and beyond that are learning to LOVE to read.

The students and I really appreciate your donations!!!! THANK YOU!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Simon
