Our school district has chosen the Universal Design for Learning (UDL) as an educational framework. UDL focuses on engaging students through their best learning styles, by giving students choice, utilizing technology, and teaching students to become "expert learners" who can take ownership of their educational experience.
We would like to purchase a large screen monitor and accessory items that will be wall mounted and protected by a screen shield . In addition to the monitor and screen shield, here is a list of the other accessory items needed: an iPad, iPad protective case, Apple TV device (to "cast" or "mirror" images, apps, and videos to the monitor), and an adjustable wall mount bracket to secure the monitor to the gym wall.
We will utilize this technology in the following ways:
• Begin the use of the “Plickers” IPad app to conduct quick & efficient formative assessments so we can find out what the students already know as well as what they still need to learn.
• Easily show PowerPoint presentations (without the setup of a projector). The monitor will also be easier to see in a bright environment than a projected image.
• Show short video clips of sport skills demonstrations or short clips of professional athletes performing the skill at the highest level
• Show exercise, dance, or other instructional videos as part of skills stations
• Review student performance and give feedback to students & athletes on their skills (if they can actually see the performance along with specific corrective feedback, it can be a very powerful teaching tool)
• Act as a scoreboard for games or as a timer (both IPad apps)
• Utilize Team Shake App to pick teams & display teams on the monitor.
With your help, we can make a difference in their lives!
