Funded Aug 3, 2018My students and I are so grateful for your support of our reading classroom. We have used the ink to print our games, task cards, and other fun learning activities. The pencils are used every day to complete classroom assignments. I think we'll have enough to last the entire year. The colored paper is used to create fold-ables and notes in our interactive notebooks. I have used the Dr. Seuss pencils as reward incentives for the students who work diligently on their class assignments or demonstrate random acts of kindness.
I think I was more excited than the kids when the box of supplies arrived! It's like Christmas morning! Thank you again for your support!”

The More You Read, the More You Know!
Funded May 10, 2018With your help, I was able to purchase books for our classroom library. The books written by Mildred D. Taylor are used for guided reading instruction and novel studies. Students read the books independently and discuss the story elements in small groups. We were also able to purchase individual titles of books. These books are available for students to read independently.
I was able to purchase books to add to the African-American history and Women in history book sets. The students enjoy reading the new books, as they are interesting and relate to our curriculum. The most popular books are the "I Survived" historical fiction novels. The boys are particularly interested in that series.
Thank you for your generosity and support of our reading program.”

Financial Whiz Kids!
Funded Apr 2, 2018Thank you for your financial support. My students were beyond excited when the secretary announced that our Donor's Choose delivery arrived. We opened the box and they students reluctantly allowed me to inventory the books before they began passing the new novels around the room. I can't count the number of times I heard, "Let me read that book first!"
New books motivate and inspire students to want to read. The books we received will go into the theme set entitled, "Money." We will use the books to learn more about dollars, cents, and finance.
Thank you for your generosity and support!”

Funded Feb 16, 2018Thank you for your generosity. With your assistance, we were able to purchase a touchscreen Acer Chromebook. The students love working on this device, as the touchscreen feature is easy to use when they are creating videos, editing assignments, or recording responses on tests or other assignments.
The green screen is very popular with the students. They are able to create videos and change the background to represent a variety of topics. The students recently studied famous historical women. One young lady researched Sally Ride. She found a picture of space and used the green screen to make it look like she was walking on the moon!
