Bottle Rocket Blast Off!
Funded Apr 5, 2019Your generous donation has already had a tremendous impact in the classroom. Students have researched how rockets work and determined the essential parts of a rocket. We have made rockets and launched them. We used an altimeter to collect data about the altitude that our rockets reached. The next step will be to analyze the data to determine which rocket design was most successful. This practical hands-on equipment took learning from theory to application.
When the students first saw the apparatus they couldn't wait for the launch. They were eager to learn as much as they could about rockets and then put their knowledge to a practical use. They designed, decorated, and even named their rockets. When a visiting parent asked a second grader why they were wearing safety goggles he responded by saying, "We're scientists." This is the type of experience that could "launch" that student into the field of science.
This equipment will be used by students in 2019 and well into the future. Even students that have had the opportunity to launch this year will be able to again in the future. Each year we will add another mathematical skill or scientific concept into the lesson. Again, thank you for your donation and dedication to education.”

This classroom project was brought to life by The DonorsChoose.org Community and 3 other donors. From Microscope to Big Screen
Funded Feb 11, 2015Thank you for your generous donation that funded our Amscope 3-D microscope with a camera. We have used it nearly every day since it arrived. The applications and instructional capabilities exceeded our expectations.
Each student has been able to examine, photograph, and display at least one specimen. We have displayed these photographs in the hallway for passersby to see. Several students, teachers, and parents have visited to share our new equipment.
Students have marveled at the beauty of objects that are seen with the magnification of the microscope. A student exclaimed that magnified photos of a piece of wood and a glass marble looked like works of art.”

It's Electric
Funded Jan 24, 2012My students and I so appreciate the materials that have been provided by your generous donations. Without your support the students would not have been able to experience the active participation of creating electrical circuits.
We have already used the Snap Circuit Kits to complete a unit about electricity. My students have been so excited about the activities that they have been sharing the information with students in other classes. Parents have asked about the kits and I have been able to share the fact that only because of your donations were we able to have this opportunity. Other teachers in the school have asked to borrow the kits for their classes.
Most importantly, the students have been learning. They clearly are able to define and create parallel circuits, series circuits, electrical schematics, and much more. The impact that these hands-on kits have made is remarkable. ”
