The students I have are from a very high poverty school and 100% of them receive free or reduced-price lunch. They come to school without the supplies needed, can't organize things or get things home and back. Parents don't have the income to buy the necessary items kids need to learn or to be successful students. Many of my students are the caregiver of younger siblings in the evenings. My classroom has four languages represented. My students are English language learners for the most part. Their parents don't speak English. The amazing thing is they ALL want to be there and want to learn.
