More Learning, More Tech
Funded Feb 15, 2019This was a wonderful surprise, I was going to just let it be and see if it would get funded. So many of you took the time to invest in the greatness of my students. This will make a huge difference in our growth this year and years to come.
Thank you for making this happen. I really do appreciate your help.”

Fluency For All
Funded Oct 1, 2018What an amazing gift you have given us with Fluency for all. One of the ways that we use the Math Talk Kit that we received, is that we take time to look at different numbers and try to solve them using mental math. The amazing strategies that the students have come up with so far have been so creative without my explicit teaching.
The first time we started the Math Talk, they were solving the problems so quickly, I had to find harder problems for them to mentally solve. They loved the challenge of coming up strategies that no other student thought of in the moment.
This Math Talk kit will help my students become flexible with numbers and reason with numbers mentally, as we continue this year we are going to add technology and games to make this learning concrete.”

Funded Dec 6, 2018Wow, thank you so much. We are coming up to the winter months where we are going to be inside for recess. Getting this project means that the students will have an incentive to move around and exercise and help people who do not have access to the resources that we have.”

Funded Aug 20, 2018Another amazing project for my students. This project has added an additional computer in our classroom where we are able to begin coding and learn more about how technology works. The Magformers has shown to be great where the students have been creating things like cars, crowns, houses and building small villages.
There have been a few students who are so excited when they are able to build, and converse with their classmates about what they are building and how they are going to make it better. This conversation is also helping us in our work with social behaviors and how to function with another classmate.
I cannot express how thankful that you took the time to support the work that we are doing here at school. It is really appreciated.”

Help Expand Our Technology with an iPad
Funded Dec 23, 2017Thank you for taking the time to send some educational love to my students. The iPad that you helped to purchase has helped my students tremendously. One of the ways that we have used the iPad is through rotations. We have time to use our computers, iPads and then teacher time. This has helped to make the learning different for the children.
One of the games on the iPad is only available on the iPad where the students can practice independently or with a classmate, their facts (addition, subtraction, multiplication and division). This is great in that I do not have to prescribe this resource, because it is already tailored to each child on the iPad.
There are a few students who are now using the iPad to practice grade level skills and learning above grade level work because there are those apps available on the iPad for them to practice. I am so thankful for your support in growing my students as mathematicians.”

Help Us Get 1:1 With Technology!
Funded Feb 19, 2017Thank you so much for providing this opportunity for my students to have access to technology in a more efficient way. Your support with these Chromebooks, has brought the number of Chromebooks up to almost providing the students 1 to 1 access with technology. In my classroom, because the students are in different academic levels, they use the Chromebooks to get on websites that touch on their academic needs. The reason why we love Chromebooks over traditional laptops, is that these Chromebooks once they are opened are ready to go. We don't have to wait for it to load, we can almost immediately get started on your task at hand.
The Chromebooks that we specifically got for this grant have been amazing. These are the sturdiest and strongest Chromebooks that we have. They are holding up so well to being in a fluid classroom environment. When the students use the Chromebooks, they comment on how the keys feel and how they don't have to wait long to get to their work.
As this group of students move on to the next grade, I am so grateful that these Chromebooks will be available for many other 3rd graders who will move along in my school. Thank you again for your support and assistance to help push my students not only academically, but also increasing their knowledge of how to use this form of technology.”

Funded Sep 27, 2016Thank you so much for providing us with the experience of having DynaMath in the classroom. Each time an issue arrives, the students spend a great amount of time looking at the real world information and new learning. This last issue, went from learning about the Geometry the Rockettes use when performing to what it takes to take care of a pet, to poverty in Kenya. These magazines provide so much context to everyday things.
My students and I look forward to each issue and the math that we are learning each time we open up the magazine. Your support will surely make us aware of what is happening around us, as well as the math around us. We appreciate your support.”

Funded Oct 13, 2016What an amazing gift you have given to my students. They are forever grateful for the Chrome books for our classroom. We have computers in our grade wing, but not enough for over 100 children to use. With these Chrome books already in our classroom, we don't have to wait our turn because the number has decreased to just our classroom. There are so many different educational websites that we have to do within a given week, you have helped us meet those goals each and every week.
What is so major for the classroom and our time management, is that these Chrome books turn on quickly and we don't have to wait for them to load or go through different updates. This efficiency is not only helpful for me as the teacher but also the student and knowing what they should do once they get a Chrome book.
All the students are so happy when it is their turn to use the Chrome books, because they know that it will work without much of an issue. In the future, I plan to complete the number of Chrome books needed, so that the classroom will be 1:1 with technology.
Thank you so much, we are thankful for your support.”

Flexible, Differentiated Seating
Funded Aug 25, 2016Dear Donors,
What an amazing gift you have given to the students of my class. Each day we rotate the seats at each table. The stools, the balls, the comfortable Big John seats are a welcome addition to our classroom environment. The students are so happy and willing to work hard with the flexible seating. Some students who are not able to stay stationary are especially excited when they have the yoga ball.
The first day we had differentiated seating was a day of high excitement. Each day they come to school, they rotate the seats and sit on their new seat for the day. With this variety, no student has the same seat everyday, unless that is what they need to be their best that day.
With this amazing project funded, I see that there may be more of a need for Hokki stools (seats that move, while staying still). That would make the classroom complete. We are so appreciative for the various projects that were funded through your help and Donors Choose. Thank you for helping our year be great.”

This classroom project was brought to life by The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and 6 other donors.Help Make My Students Techies!
Funded Jul 16, 2015Thank you so much for supporting my students this school year. We have used the Chrome books almost daily. The chrome books load so quickly that it helps cut down on wasting instructional time. One of the ways that we have used the chrome books is for research in science. The students are becoming proficient in locating resources and creating amazing documents in Goggle Docs.
Each time they work with the chrome books, they discover a new feature that makes their work that much better. Some of the students are now fluent with creating slides with pictures and animations because of the speed at which the chrome books function for them. When the students create the slides, they then present their work to the class. These presentations have been great, there are some students who are getting better at speaking in front of the class because they have this great sideshow that they created, behind them to support them.
With your donation to help purchase the chrome books, you have provided a resource where all the students are able to access technology. This helps to get them close to being on the same technological level. Now, when assigning technology projects, I can provide the opportunity for all the students to work on their projects in class in the event that they don't have the technology at home.
Thank you again”

Mrs. Carr
