Help Me Make Learning Stick With Magnetic Learning Tools!
Funded Feb 7, 2020Thank you so much for your generosity. I am truly thankful. I’m so appreciative of individuals like yourself who support our students. Without individuals like yourself, some of our students will not have access to all the learning tools that they need. Thank you again for supporting public school education!”

This classroom project was brought to life by Livia & Biz Stone.Help us Satisfy our Sensory Needs!
Funded Mar 27, 2018The students at my school absolutely loved the sensory balls! Many of the students who used the materials have physical disabilities. The sensory items in the clear balls excited and motivated them! The balls were used to engage them before a lesson was taught. The sensory balls were also used a reward. Students worked extra hard to complete their learning tasks so that they could use the sensory balls.
The students also loved using the sensory rings. Our students have many sensory needs. Therefore having those sensory rings to incorporate in lessons helped many students to focus for longer periods of time on their tasks.
Thank you so much for helping us obtain the materials that we need to help us give our students what they need!!!”

This classroom project was brought to life by Ripple. We Need A Break!
Funded Oct 22, 2015The students are using the beanbag chairs and rug quite often! They use them during leisure time and also when they need a break to calm down after an upsetting situation. All students need time to relax and take a break from activities. However, students with disabilities often need more breaks than typical learners. Our students can get overwhelmed easily. Therefore I found it very important that they have a leisure area. For example, some students can work for perhaps thirty minutes straight. We want our students to thrive and to give their best work. So if they are not provided with breaks after a certain amount of time, that student may begin demonstrating negative behaviors, or they may not perform well for the rest of the day.
When I presented the students with the beanbag chairs and rugs, a big smile immediately took over their face. One student asked "Is that for us?" I said yes and the student began grabbing the materials from me! I was very happy to witness their expressions. They began tearing the plastic off the materials and setting them on the floor.
The students use the beanbag chair and rug everyday. They love to relax on it while reading a book or using an iPad. One particular student also uses the materials when he needs to calm down after an upsetting situation. The students love having a soft spot to sit on because classroom chairs are not the most comfortable.
I would like to continue expanding the leisure area. I would like to add more beanbag chairs to the area so that students can interact with each other. They need to improve their social and play skills. It would be nice if they can take breaks together in one area.”

We Need Structure!
Funded Mar 11, 2015The students are making full use of the dividers. They use them every day, multiple times during the day! The boxes are also used daily because the students store educational tasks in them. Our students participate in small group work as well as spend one to one time with their teachers. The dividers are extremely useful for blocking out visual distractions during instructional time. The students also love using the dividers for their own privacy when using the computer.
The students were very excited to receive the dividers. They had dividers in the past, but they were old and torn and had to be thrown away. Therefore, they were very excited to receive brand new dividers!
We will do our best to take care of these dividers because they are very useful. Teachers and students recognize the value of the dividers. We thank you again for your generous donations!”

The Awesome Autistic Child!
Funded May 12, 2014My students were very excited about their new materials! I explained to them that some very nice people donated money to buy materials to help them learn. When the packages arrived, they try to open the packages without my permission. I also let them know what items we would be receiving, so they could not wait to get their hands on the materials!
My students are making use of each and every material. My students are very happy that each of them have a personal headphone that they can use. They use the headphones when they independently use academic websites. The classroom CD player also allows us to able to listen to books as a class. I have students who love to write. They love the vocabulary journal! They are able to find a definition, write it and draw it! My students also love the math manipulative's. They able to demonstrate fractions and show various amounts of money with the magnetic bills and coins.
The resources that I have received are most definitely helping my students gain more academic skills. The materials are also helping them gain greater independence. They now have a wealth of materials to help them in ELA and math. My students are more eager to learn and participate because they have tangible items that they can use while they are learning. The personal headphones also allow more than one student to use a computer without auditory distractions. Thank you so much for your generous donation!”

Help us Build Math and Literacy Skills!
Funded Apr 17, 2014My students were very excited about their new materials! I explained to them that some very nice people donated money to buy materials to help them learn. When the packages arrived, they try to open the packages without my permission. I also let them know what items we would be receiving, so they could not wait to get their hands on the materials!
My students are making use of each and every material. My students love to use the magnetic word builders to build their own sentences. My students are able to use the magnetic boards to build their sentences on. The stacking counters also helped a student to addition problems independently. He was very proud of himself. The students also use the privacy partition to block visual distractions when they're working.

This classroom project was brought to life by PwC and 11 other donors.Help Us Relax, Read and Comprehend!
Funded Mar 27, 2010I would like to thank you once again for supporting students with special needs through your generous donations. My students are very excited about their books and it makes me happy to see them so enthusiastic about reading.
My students are reading Charlie and the Chocolate Factory right now and they love it! I have one student who is not yet a reader, but he listens to the book while sitting on the beanbag chair. As the other students are engaged in another activity, we hear him laughing loudly to the humorous portions of the book. The classroom staff members and myself look at each other and smile because it makes us feel good to see our non-readers be able to enjoy a book like their peers who can read.
The personal CD player that was purchased is also greatly benefiting my students. The students enjoy listening to a chapter first and then reading it. Listening first helps them gain greater comprehension of what they are reading, which is the goal that I have set for them.
Once again, my students and I are very grateful to you and we send you a BIG THANK YOU!!!!!!!”

Ms. Hill
