  • Farm to Table & Growth to Education

    Funded Aug 6, 2019

My students and I cannot thank you enough! I am completely humbled by your belief in me, my program, my vision, and most of all, my students.

As it is fall, we are currently building the beds, setting up the space, and getting ready for planting seedlings in the spring. A teacher in our school, when she heard from my students about our plans, donated an indoor setup for planting seeds and growing the starter plants; a landscaper who homesteads in a neighboring county has pledged to help with heirloom seeds and expert labor to assist the students in planting; a viticulturist in the community has offered his own compost to help our plants thrive.

By giving so generously, you have made an impact far beyond my classroom. These students will literally be planting the seeds of the future and gaining a love of land, a knowledge from which they can grow in life, in career, and in their community.

Thank you so much; mere words cannot convey our joy and our appreciation.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Ross

Students don't have to ask how their learning is relevant - they can literally TASTE the outcomes! We have the space to build a garden and I want to go for it! I have farmers and agricultural experts ready to willing to help my students build an herb and vegetable garden from which we can make our own food! The cycle of learning - planning/design, implementation, creation, reflection, and follow-up are all highlighted!
