Students with autism and social emotional needs have difficulty communicating with their surrounding appropriately. It is simply not enough for me to "talk" or "lecture" my students on social skills. They need opportunities to apply the skills they have learned. These skills are not only vital for them in the classroom but will provide skills for them to be successful throughout life. Imagine starting a lesson reading a book and then following it up with an activity such as a game or a craft. The organization of materials is useful so students can get started right away. The regular classroom has lost the idea of learning through play. I provide a safe space for my students to open up and engage in learning through free expression and cooperative learning. My students and I would appreciate any donation you are able to provide.
